There’s something about salt water that soothes my soul in a way nothing else can. On our recent stay at Cobblers Cove in Barbados, I fully leaned into that feeling. This charming estate on the west coast of the island offers the kind of quiet luxury that immediately slows your pace. Every morning, I found myself drawn to the calm turquoise waters, just steps from our room. The Caribbean Sea here is as gentle as it is beautiful, soft waves, warm temperatures, and an endless stretch of blue that almost begged me to stay in all day.

Swimming became my daily ritual. I would float for hours, the sun warming my skin, the rhythmic sound of the waves in my ears. One of my favorite spots on the property was the resort’s anchored pontoon, a floating platform set just offshore. I’d swim out, lounge in the sun, watch the boats drift by, and then slip back into the sea for another swim. It was the perfect combination of relaxation and movement, and easily became the highlight of my days. Occasionally, we would trade ocean swims for a dip in the pool, which felt equally indulgent with a colorful tropical drink in hand.

Of course, part of the fun of a beach vacation is the effortless style that comes with it. My classic J.Crew swimsuit was in constant rotation, offering both comfort and polish for long days spent swimming and sunning. I paired it with my go-to Julia Amory wrap, which easily transformed from a cover-up for walks along the beach to something chic enough for lunch at the poolside restaurant. The beauty of this wrap is its versatility, it folds down small in a beach tote but makes a big impact, perfect for travel and always polished. I rarely go on vacation without it.

As the sun would set, the soft pinks and golds of the sky would reflect on the water, closing out each perfect day. Those peaceful evenings, often spent sipping rum punch and watching the horizon, left me feeling completely recharged. Cobblers Cove gave me the gift of slowing down and savoring the simple joys: salt water, sunshine, and a little extra time to float. It’s the kind of place you dream about revisiting the moment you leave. I’m already counting the days until I can return.

Love from Barbados,
Katie
