A Romantic Dress for Florida

I’ve only been back home in Florida for about two months, but I’ve definitely been seeing a shift in my wardrobe. As much as I didn’t want to, I noticed my preferences change in NYC to black and navy everything. If I liked something, I most likely grabbed it in the darkest colors available. Up north, I also gravitated towards very classic and modest pieces that would make Blair Waldorf proud! Oh, how things have changed!
It’s so normal to have your sense of style shift and I’m telling you to embrace it! Recently, it has been a complete 180 change with florals and flowing dresses on my mind! Maybe I’m trying to make up for lost time, but I most certainly missed out on dressing like a vacation 365 days a year. It almost makes me feel like I’m going through a style detox! I’m going to both ends of the spectrum to find that happy middle.
Currently, I can’t get enough of floral maxi dresses. Especially for Valentine’s Day, they are so romantic and surreal. It’s pretty rare to be able to wear flowers all year round, but Florida will give you that kind of luxury. This particular dress from Free People purely fits the bill! At first, I had a sneaking suspicion that it would be just outside of my comfort zone. Puffed sleeves, especially on my build, don’t always make for a good fit.
Once I tried it on, I was simply in love! Does it give off a little bit of western prairie vibes? Maybe, but I like to see it more as boho cowgirl. All that’s missing is a pair of swanky cowboy boots. Instead, I swapped the boots for brown leather sandals that I swear go with everything. It’s the perfect little ensemble for a date night in Florida. Breezy, laidback, and effortless are all adjectives that I would want to be described as.
Since spring and summer are just around the corner, there are so many different options for romantic floral dresses. Free People is one of the top names to know for boho dresses, but there are so many others! I have been coveting this sunshine yellow maxi dress from England Factory. It would be the perfect addition to my closet in time for warmer weather.
No matter where you live, and no matter what the weather is like, vacation may be calling! Do yourself a huge favor and schedule a trip to your dream destination. To celebrate, buy a new romantic dress for a date night somewhere sunny. You’ll thank me later.
