Estes Park, Colorado, Rockies, Rocky Mountain, J. Crew

There’s something magical about spending time in the Rocky Mountains, especially during the cooler months. Our little family recently had the chance to explore Estes Park, Colorado, on a chilly morning. It was the perfect opportunity to bundle up in cozy, winter-ready pieces. While the air was crisp, the layered outfits we wore made the experience comfortable and enjoyable.

For Brennan, warmth was the top priority. I dressed her in an LL Bean fleece bunting suit, which kept her snug and cozy from head to toe. The bunting suit is not only adorable, but it’s also made of a soft, insulating fleece that’s perfect for keeping little ones warm without being too bulky. Brennan’s cheeks were rosy, and she seemed completely content while we took in the mountain scenery.

For myself, I went with a classic, layered look that balanced style and function. I started with a black crew neck sweater from J.Crew, which provided a great base layer of warmth. Over that, I added a tan wool coat, also from J.Crew. This coat is a staple piece in my winter wardrobe; it’s both versatile and stylish, effortlessly elevating any outfit while providing the extra warmth needed for outdoor adventures in cooler climates.

To complete the look, I chose a pair of wide-leg jeans, another J.Crew find. The wide-leg style adds a modern touch to the outfit while allowing for comfortable movement—ideal for walking around and exploring the Rockies. For footwear, I wore brown suede Sarah Flint boots, which are as durable as they are stylish. The boots’ suede material adds a touch of texture to the outfit, while their sturdy construction provides traction on uneven paths, making them a reliable choice for outdoor excursions.

The combination of cozy layers and thoughtful pieces made our day in Estes Park enjoyable and comfortable. When dressing for a cold day out, especially in a scenic mountain area, it’s essential to choose items that provide warmth without sacrificing style. This outfit did just that, allowing me to feel both put together and well-prepared for the chilly mountain air.

In the end, our day was filled with beautiful views and plenty of cozy moments. Whether you’re heading to the mountains or just preparing for a cool-weather day in town, layering with pieces like a wool coat, warm sweater, and sturdy boots is a great way to stay warm while looking effortlessly chic.

Denver, Mile High City, Black, Turtleneck, J. Crew

Denver’s blend of urban sophistication and laid-back mountain vibes calls for an outfit that feels both polished and comfortable. On my recent visit, I put together a look that felt effortlessly chic—an ideal combination of comfort and style for a day in the Mile High City.

The foundation of this outfit was a black turtleneck from J.Crew. Lightweight yet warm, this versatile turtleneck is a wardrobe essential that adds sophistication to any look. The tissue-thin material makes it great for layering, but it also holds its own as a classic, standalone piece. Black is always a great choice in any season, and it easily transitions from day to night, making it an excellent option for city outings in Denver.

Paired with the turtleneck, I wore a camel satin midi skirt from J.Crew. The satin fabric brings a soft, luxurious feel to the outfit, while the camel color adds a warm, earthy tone that balances beautifully with the black turtleneck. The midi length is both stylish and practical, ideal for exploring the city comfortably. Camel and black are timeless neutrals that work in any season, but they feel especially chic and autumnal in Denver’s crisp, elevated air. This skirt gives the outfit an effortlessly elegant touch without sacrificing comfort.

To complete the look, I opted for black suede boots. Their sleek, simple design makes them versatile enough to pair with almost anything, and the low heel keeps them comfortable for a full day of exploring downtown Denver.

Accessorizing this outfit was simple—I chose a small black handbag, adding just the right amount of polish without overpowering the neutral tones of black and camel. This bag is practical for a day in the city, carrying all the essentials without being too bulky.

Overall, this outfit is a lesson in mixing timeless neutrals and high-quality basics for a look that’s effortlessly sophisticated. Denver’s unique vibe of urban energy meets outdoor spirit inspired this look. Whether you’re grabbing coffee at Union Station, browsing boutiques, or heading out for dinner, this outfit transitions seamlessly. For anyone visiting Denver, having versatile pieces like these in your wardrobe can help you feel chic and confident while exploring the city.

Katie

Denver, Colorado, Union Station, Mile High

With only 24 hours to spend in Denver before heading to the mountains for a dear friend’s wedding, we packed as much of the Mile High City as possible into a short but sweet itinerary. Whether you’re on a layover or a quick city break, here’s how we made the most of our day in Denver, a city that never fails to charm.

Getting Into Denver

One of the most convenient ways to get from Denver International Airport to the heart of the city is by hopping on the A Line commuter train. With frequent departures and a comfortable ride, it’s a stress-free start to your trip that delivers you straight to Union Station in downtown Denver. Plus, it’s a budget-friendly and eco-conscious choice—a win-win for travelers looking to start their trip off right.

Lunch at Mercantile Dining & Provision

Once in Union Station, we headed straight for Mercantile Dining & Provision, one of Denver’s most beloved spots for fresh, locally inspired fare. Located right in the historic station, Mercantile is a farm-to-table favorite, and their seasonal dishes are always a delight. We enjoyed a relaxed lunch, taking in the vibrant ambiance of Union Station while savoring every bite. I particularly loved my Sesame Chicken Sandwich. It was the perfect first taste of Denver’s vibrant food scene.

An Afternoon Pint at Great Divide Brewing Co.

Denver’s craft beer scene is legendary, so a visit to a local brewery was a must. We chose Great Divide Brewing Co., one of the city’s original craft breweries, known for its bold, flavorful brews. From classic Denver pale ales to adventurous seasonal offerings, there’s something for everyone here. We spent the afternoon sampling a flight of beers, soaking up the casual, laid-back atmosphere that makes Denver’s breweries so inviting.

Check-In at the Oxford Hotel

After lunch, we strolled over to our accommodation for the night, the historic Oxford Hotel. This charming boutique hotel is a Denver landmark with a beautiful blend of classic elegance and modern amenities. Staying here felt like stepping back in time, but with all the contemporary comforts you’d expect. The Oxford’s art deco style and warm hospitality made it an ideal spot to unwind, even if only briefly, before our next adventure.

Dinner at Urban Farmer

For dinner, we opted for Urban Farmer, a modern steakhouse with a focus on sustainable ingredients and a farm-to-table philosophy. The restaurant’s sleek decor and locally inspired menu make for a memorable dining experience. From perfectly cooked steaks to fresh, seasonal sides, every dish was beautifully crafted and delicious. Urban Farmer is a true standout in Denver’s culinary landscape. It was the ideal spot for a hearty meal before calling it a night.

Morning Coffee from Amante Coffee

After a restful night, we started the next morning with a quick coffee run to Amante Coffee. Known for its high-quality beans and expertly crafted espresso drinks, Amante is a local favorite. An iced latte in hand, we took a few quiet moments to soak in the last bits of downtown Denver before packing up for the next leg of our trip.

Denver, Colorado, Union Station, Mile High

With coffee and a quick breakfast fueling us, we picked up our rental car and hit the road toward Estes Park, ready for a weekend of celebrations in the Rockies. Although this trip to Denver was a whirlwind, every moment was filled with the unique charm and warm hospitality the city is known for. From the delicious food and craft beer to the vibrant atmosphere, Denver once again reminded us why it’s always a pleasure to visit—even if only for 24 hours.
