What I can say about Palm Beach, Florida that hasn’t already been said? It’s nothing short of perfect! That’s especially true if you’re like me: an old soul with a penchant for pastel colors, good food, and elegance. Whether you’re visiting from another region of the Sunshine State or afar from NYC, here are some of my recommendations for a perfectly Palm Beach weekend.

  • Travel Guide, Palm Beach, Girl's weekend, Florida
Where to Stay
  • The Chesterfield: Situated just off of Worth Avenue, this historic hotel is perfectly located for a weekend stay, or longer! As soon as you walk, you will be treated like royalty, with so many nods to British culture. I give you a full view of the hotel in my previous post, Girl’s Trip to the Chesterfield.
  • The Colony: Where do I begin with this hotel? It really is something you need to see and experience for yourself. It has hosted the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to Frank Sinatra and always feels like the place to be. What I truly love about this space is the interior design from Kemble Interiors. It’s colorful, it’s carefree, and is quintessential Florida.

Where to Eat
  • Sant Ambroeus: This restaurant and cafe will always be a personal favorite. In my NYC days, I would make a point to get a coffee at their Madison Avenue location at least once a week. From breakfast to dinner, everything on their menu is impeccable!
  • Ta-Boo: This is a Palm Beach staple located right on Worth Avenue. Originally opened in 1941, it was a favorite of the Kennedy clan. Having won several culinary awards since then, it serves up delicious food in an elegant setting. It’s the perfect spot for an evening out, especially if you want to rub elbows with the it crowd.
  • Swifty’s: Inspired by the Upper East Side bistro of the same name, this pop-up restaurant is located poolside at the Colony Hotel. It is simply too good to pass up! Stopping by at lunchtime, the cocktails were pouring and the DJ was playing. I’ve been daydreaming about the curry chicken salad ever since.
  • Piccolo Gelato: Sometimes you just need a refreshing pick-me-up! This tiny gelato shopped, tucked away on Via Mizner, is perfect for a warm Palm Beach day! Although you’re a long way from Italy, the Italian style gelato may just match up with anything I had in Rome. My personal favorite duo is limoncello and mango.

Where to Drink
  • Cafe 155: I wish I was kidding, but I definitely had coffee here every single morning. Can you really blame me? Adorable monogrammed cups, delicious breakfast sandwiches, and perfectly blended iced soy lattes.
  • The Leopard Lounge: Located in the heart of the Chesterfield, this spot will have you covered from morning to night. In the afternoon, relax in the courtyard for a very special afternoon tea. In the evening, you will want to sit at the bar all night, ordering fabulous martinis, listening to the piano, and making friends with the locals.
  • HMF: If you’re familiar with Florida history, the Breakers needs no introduction. This 1900s palace by the sea left me breathless the first time I walked in. Take a quick left in the palatial front lobby and you’ll find yourself at their cocktail bar. You’ll feel like you’re in a 1960s Bond movie instead of Palm Beach. Do yourself a favor and order a roll of sushi or two and keep the drinks flowing!
What to Do
  • Shop Along Worth Avenue: Worth Avenue may just offer some of the best shopping in all of Florida! The Main Street boasts several cherished designers, think Chanel, Gucci, or Lilly Pulitzer. The Via side streets have a different approach. Here, you will find more local boutiques. No matter your budget, there is something for you!
  • Go Thrifting: No trip to Palm Beach is complete without doing some thrifting! My favorite place is The Church Mouse. Benefitting the Bethesda-by-the-Sea Church, there are so many gems to discover! On my most previous trip, I grabbed a stunning Tory Burch silk maxi dress for all of $35. Spend a few hours here and you never know what you’ll find.
  • Beach Day on the Atlantic: With so much shopping, it’s almost easy to forget that Palm Beach is an oceanfront town. If you need to relax from the glamour, pack your beach bag and head East to the Atlantic Ocean. Make it a picnic with sandwiches to-go from either Sant Ambroeus or Buccan.
  • Travel Guide, Palm Beach, Florida, girl's weekend

Palm Beach is truly something special. In just under 4 hours, I can leave my little corner in St. Pete and drive into perfectly manicured streets and shops. My goal, going into 2021, is to make the trip much more often. Be sure to hold me to it.

Love from Florida,
Katie

I’ve had the pleasure of first visiting Palm Beach for my Bachelorette weekend already two+ years ago. It is the ultimate destination for a girl’s weekend. Amazing dining, one of a kind boutiques, and all of the prettiest lined streets you can handle! While I’ll be sharing a more in-depth travel guide later, I wanted to highlight one of the island’s hotels that could serve as your home away from home. Let me introduce you to The Chesterfield!

The Location

The perfectly pink building on Cocoanut Row has been a hotel since 1926. Originally called The Lido-Venice, it sits just a few blocks from famous Worth Avenue. That means it’s right in the middle of all the action! Although it’s tucked away on a quieter side street, you’ll be able to reach all of the best restaurants and boutiques in under ten minutes. Take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary valet and you won’t have to worry about your car for the entire weekend.

The Rooms

I honestly first fell in love with this hotel while daydreaming of places to stay in London. The Chesterfield Palm Beach is part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection with hotels all over the world, but the only one in the United States. Like its cousin, the Chesterfield Mayfair in London, each of the 42 rooms are individually designed to match the vibrance of Palm Beach. Think of a healthy blend of pastels, florals, and patterns. When you first check in to your room, there’s a slight thrill in not knowing which design you’re going to get.

The Leopard Lounge

Almost every fantastic hotel has a great cocktail lounge to go with. Well, that is certainly true with The Chesterfield. The mood at the Leopard Lounge is dark and imitate, with a familiar classic feel. It reminded me of some of my favorite bars in Manhattan. Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong are the perfect musical companions as you sip a cocktail or two. I highly recommend the French Martini.

Afternoon Tea Time

Keeping in tune with the hotel’s British roots, The Chesterfield serves an afternoon tea. I cannot recommend this enough! There’s a long list of teas to choose from, but the real star is the tray of tea sandwiches and cakes. I may need to start making cucumber sandwiches at home for myself. Relax in the Chesterfield Courtyard with your best girlfriends and a pot of tea.

There are so many incredible hotels in Palm Beach. Each with its own sense of charm and style. If you’re looking for a destination with refinement and class, then The Chesterfield is the place for you. Book your own girl’s weekend in the land of pink and green today!

Worth Avenue Mornings

Palm Beach, Florida has long evoked visions of splendor. It’s a place where the elite families of NYC come to vacation. More importantly, it’s a pristine town without even the slightest palm frond out of place. No matter who you are,

Read Up On Your History

The history of Palm Beach is just as glitzy and glamorous as the fabled Vias along Worth Avenue. Before you take a trip to Palm Beach, I highly recommend reading up on some of the local lore. I promise you’ll appreciate everything so much more! Some of my favorite reads include Bubble in the Sun by Christopher Knowlton and Lilly by Kathryn Livingston. The latest Palm Beach book on my radar, that I saw while shopping is Suzie Zuzek for Lilly Pulitzer by Susan Brown. Anything that combines fashion and history is sure to be a win for me!

Get Up Early

This is always my recommendation when traveling and it deserves repeating! I woke up with the sunrise each morning in Palm Beach. The result is having Worth Avenue practically to myself. With I was able to window shop at myself pace and really wander through the Vias. Each time I found something new and aesthetically gorgeous!

Start With A Cup of Coffee

Caffeine always gets the day off to a good start. For me, I found myself instinctually strolling to The Colony Hotel and their Cafe 155. Inside is a beautiful of pastels and palms with a surprisingly long menu. With iced soy latte in hand, served in a fetching monogrammed cup, I was ready to take on the day! When you’re in Palm Beach, that includes a lot of shopping and dining!

Don’t Skip the Vias

Along Worth Avenue, there are several Vias that cut through to Peruvian Avenue and lead to beautiful courtyards. While the Main Street has countless high end designer shops, you can also find some gem boutiques along the side streets. The most famous of the Vias is Via Mizner, named for Palm Beach architect, Addison Mizner. Today it holds shops and the Italian restaurant, Renato. Back in the day, it was also home to the original boutique from Lilly Pulitzer.

Madison Avenue, Rodeo Drive, Worth Avenue. Every chic town has its own picturesque street lined with designer shops and cafes. Palm Beach is no exception. With it’s manicured bougainvilleas and endless palm trees, it may just be my favorite!

Katie
