A few months ago, I had the very unique experience of being able to call myself a model. Those were words that I never thought I would say, but was absolutely floored when I was contacted by this amazing local Tampa boutique, Ship Chic, to model off their new pieces from Tori Richard. To make matters even better, it was at one of my favorite places in all of St. Pete, at the Vinoy hotel.

Working with Briana Anderson, the photographer, was a blast! She had such a great energy and gave really good direction. Since it was my first time working with someone other than David, I needed all of the help I could get! She also has a blog of her own (linked here) and you should definitely check it out. I would have to describe her style as fun, effortless, and laidback. It perfectly fits her personality!

Okay, back to the dresses. Like I said before, they are from a company called Tori Richard. If you haven’t heard of it, you should really get acquainted. A Honolulu, Hawaii based company stemming back to the 1950s, they create happy and bright clothes for both men and women. I think the best part is that almost all of their products are cut and sewn right there in the Honolulu factory. I can always get behind a company that supports their community.

These dresses have the kind of prints that just a put a smile on your face and make a state all by themselves. As I was trying everything on, I was falling more and more in love. I think my personal favorite was the Kaylin Dress in the Horsing Around print. It is the comfiest thing you will ever put on and the colors are even better in person.

Ship Chic also is carrying Tori Richard’s latest collection. The colors and prints are perfect for fall. You’re also going to find a lot of navy, which you know how much I love that color! I’ve linked them down below for you to get some eye candy. Enjoy!

Love from NYC,
Katie

Me and FSU

Me and FSU

FSU, Florida State, football, Hill Flint

I’ve sat all weekend, somewhat patiently, to finally get to today. It’s FSU Gameday! I am a die hard Seminole fan and maybe the biggest thing I need to learn as a new New Yorker is where all my fellow Noles hang. Back home, every TV is guaranteed to have the FSU playing (and probably with the sound on).

To start the season out with a bang, I thought it would be fun to share some quick facts about me and Florida State. You’ll learn real quick that I’m not blowing smoke when I call myself a fan…

  • My first FSU game was when I was only 3 months old. One of my favorite pictures is from this game (where we completely blew out the other team, by the way), with my dad holding me in front of the fountain at the Wescott Building. My fellow Noles, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
  • I had a pet cockatiel growing up named Charlie. He heard FSU games so much that he learned to sing the Florida State fight song. I nominate him for the most talented bird in the world.
  • My first swear word was when I was watching an FSU game at home with my dad. If memory serves, it was just a little C-R-A-P. Clearly I was not a fan of what I was watching. Sorry mom!
  • I was a varsity swimmer and now get to enjoy the Varsity Club at home games. I was so sure of my decision to go to FSU that I didn’t visit other schools, even though I was heavily recruited. My college career wasn’t as successful as I would have hoped, but I wouldn’t have done anything different.
  • I graduated from FSU in 2013 with my degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Child Development. It is definitely one of the proudest days of my life.
  • I kept pushing back a first date with David because I had FSU football season tickets and didn’t want to miss a game. He gives me such a hard time over this, but I’m pretty sure I’ve converted him. He at least cheers along with me.

I know everyone has special little details that makes their college experience so special. I would love to hear about it! Yes, I want to hear even if you’re a UF or Clemson fan. Comment below something that makes you love your college even more.

Love from FSU,
Katie

Maybe it’s because I’m only a Floridian for two more days, but I’m starting to feel a little nostalgic about the Sunshine State. I will be the first to admit that I took for granted living here. I mean, I’ve lived here for 27 years and still have a state bucket list a mile long.

This past June, I was able to finally cross the top item off my bucket list, visit Palm Beach. My gal pals and I drove the quick four hours South to visit, what arguable may be the most immaculate city in the state, for my Bachelorette weekend.

Every inch of this coastal town looks like it’s out of a dream. Worth Avenue, the main shopping drag, starts at the Atlantic Ocean and goes to include some of the most exclusive stores. Dive into the many side streets, like Via Mizner or Via Roma, and the real exploring can start. Little breezeways open up to a spans of floral courtyards with a variety of balconies, fountains, and major curb appeal.

You will also find a healthy selection of boutiques, mom-and-pop shops, and places to eat. Grab some gelato from Piccolo Gelato and take your time perusing in and out. Each corner is dripping in charm and would make for the perfect photo opp.

I have big plans to share my official Palm Beach travel guide, but I want to take my time and make sure I get it exactly right. Until then, enjoy the delights I found on my own pilgrimage to PB and happy daydreaming!

Love from Florida,
Katie
