Upper East Side Date Night

COVID Edits made on January 6, 2020

Upper East Side, Date Night, NYC, Valentine's Day

Jacket || Similar Tee || Jeans || Heels || Sunglasses || Handbag

Oh, how I love Valentine’s Day! It’s the one day of the year where being gushy and lovey-dovey is socially acceptable. Wear all of your favorite red pieces with abandon! This Chanel inspired blazer from H&M is absolutely perfect for the holiday. At under $60, it makes for the perfect closet staple that looks effortless and chic. It comes in two other colors, ivory or black, and I can’t wait to add both to my collection.

This ensemble also makes for the perfect date night ensemble. I actually wore it out for a quick Happy Hour on the Upper East Side and I was instantly inspired to make a UES Date Night guide. While every neighborhood has it’s own sense of character and charm, nights spent in our corner of Manhattan are some of my favorites! Whether you’re a resident or visitor, here is the perfect date night itinerary for you and someone special.

Upper East Side, Date Night, NYC, Valentine's Day
Happy Hour at The Daisy

The Daisy is a little spot has quickly become one of my favorites in the UES to grab a drink. The intimate setting and cocktail list a mile long makes it the perfect place for post-work spirits. Their Happy Hour actually goes until 8, so there’s no need to rush to get there. Other favorite Happy Hour spots would be Bua.

COVID Edit: The Daisy is currently open.

Dinner at La Pulperia

Whatever you do, be sure to come hungry to this rustic, Latin restaurant. La Pulperia was one of the first restaurants David and I ate as a New York couple so, it will always hold a special place in our heart. The food is absolutely delicious and just a great meal to share with someone.

COVID Edit: La Pulperia is closed, but I also recommend Om, Drunken Monkey, or even JG Melon.

Late Visit to The MET

If your date night is on a Friday or Saturday, you absolutely should take advantage of The MET’s late night hours. On these days, they stay open until 9pm and it’s just enough time to stroll through a enjoy an exhibit or two.

COVID Edit: The MET is currently only opened until 5 pm.

 Night Cap at UVA

After you’ve taken in some culture at my favorite museum in the city, it’s time to stop for one final drink at UVA. This Italian restaurant is a great place to snag a corner table and enjoy a glass of wine or split some bruschetta. I really don’t think you can get more romantic than this spot.

COVID Edit: UVA is still open until 12 am.

Upper East Side, Date Night, NYC, Valentine's Day

At the end of the day, the most important part of a date night is who you’re with. No matter what city you live in, enjoy the time with your loved ones and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Katie

Romance in NYC

February 7, 2019

NYC Style Blog, Christmas Holiday Style, Gift Guide, Red Midi Skirt

Blouse || Skirt || Heels || Clutch

Okay, I have a confession. This outfit is actually from Christmas time, but I’m recycling it as the sweetest Valentine’s Day or Date Night outfit. There are just so many romantic details, I would hate for it to miss out on the fun. Lace details, a feminine skirt, and a big pop of red are all perfect for the month of February.

I think the best part of this outfit is that everything can be found for under $100. It’s probably my most budget friendly outfit to date! Both the top and skirt can be found at H&M for under $35 each. The black heels are extremely versatile from Steve Madden for under $100. Lastly, you’ve probably noticed that this tortoise clutch, from Tuckernuck, has been my go-to this winter and can be yours from $98. I promise you’ll get your money’s worth out of this tiny bag.

We may be having a mild week here in NYC, but it’s still the middle of winter and it’s always great to have a fabulous coat in mind when picking out an outfit. This red and black herringbone coat from Talbots is the perfect compliment with it’s lady-like structure, but it’s the pattern that I truly fell in love with. It’s sure to make quite a statement!

Even though it’s such an on-the-go city, I’ve found that New York has such a romantic quality that I can’t help, but love. From strolling through Central Park to all of the restaurants to choose from. Romance can be found all over this city. Be sure to check back next week for my ideal NYC date night itinerary.

Lavender in Brooklyn

January 29, 2019

NYC, Style Blogger, Lavender, J. Crew, Nordstrom, Brooklyn

Sweater || Skirt || Heels || Clutch || Sunglasses

So, this blog post is coming to you much later than I normally would like, but it’s been an absolutely bananas day! Such is life for a teacher! Anyways, back to the blog post…

NYC, Style Blogger, Lavender, J. Crew, Nordstrom, Brooklyn

When it’s a cloudy day in the city, I can’t help but grab a bright color to lighten then mood. That’s exactly what happened when David and I decided to hope over the river to visit DUMBO and the Brooklyn Bridge. I just had to wear this gorgeous lavender skirt I picked up from Nordstrom.

I think the best part about this little skirt, besides the price, is its asymmetrical hem-line. It gives just enough character and changes the entire look of an otherwise simple outfit, along with the pleats and belted details. And the price? This skirt can be yours for under $70 and will be extremely versatile, no matter the season.

Pairing this cream sweater from J. Crew Factory gives the whole look an almost ballerina-like quality. I am, by no means, in the dance world, but it’s always fun to dress the part. These matching nude heels from Marc Fisher complimented the outfit perfectly and were so comfy as I walked along the East River waterfront.

As much as I loved this skirt, David was seriously questioning the quality control and thought the uneven hem was clearly a mistake. I absolutely reassured him that all was well in my closet and that he would be seeing this skirt more than once. Let me know what you think of this style in the comments below!

Love from NYC,
Katie
