Ultimate Nautical Sweater

March 4, 2019

Bermuda, Hamilton Princess, Nautical, Stripes, J. Crew, Tuckernuck, Jack Rogers, Navy

If you were to take a peek in my closet right now, you would see all kind of colors and patterns, but the number one stand out is STRIPES. It seems like a week can’t even pass by without me sharing a new favorite striped blouse or dress that I’ve added to my wardrobe. I can’t really explain it, but this pattern has a tight hold on me.

Whenever I see nautical features in an otherwise basic piece, I feel pretty compelled to buy it. This sweater blazer from J. Crew Factory was no exception. To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I opened the box. Online, it looked more like a structured blazer. Instead, I was so happy to find a soft and slouchy sweater that could work for almost any occasion.

It was a great navy piece to pack for my trip to Bermuda. So, into the suitcase it went. Since it was very breezy for most of our trip, I was so thankful to have this little number to throw on for brunch or walking around the island. It may have been a last minute add, but I love how polished it looks when paired with this navy tank from Lilly Pulitzer and my go-to white jeans from J. Crew.

When Spring finally decides to make its way to NYC, this sweater will become my new go-to layering piece. It will look just as good with a pair of crisp white shorts as it would with a navy eyelet sundress. When it comes to navy and white stripes, the possibilities are endless. How would you wear it?

Love from NYC,
Katie

Bermuda-ful Beaches

Bermuda-ful Beaches

Bermuda, beaches, pink, turquoise, sand

Cover-Up || Swimsuit || Sunglasses

I have always heard that Bermuda beaches were gorgeous, but I really wasn’t prepared for what I saw on our trip. When we turned the corner around the parking lot at Jobson’s Cove, David and I were both speechless! There was a spans of pink sands and turquoise water for as far as the eye could see! The best part of this beach was that we had almost entirely to ourselves. I was shocked to see only one other group on a bright and beautiful Bermudian Sunday.

Sprinkled throughout this beach are intimate coves that make you want to completely forget the real world. This beach seems absolutely endless and I wish we had more time to spend there, but we had other beaches to check off. Just down the road you’ll find Horseshoe Bay Beach. Definitely the more touristy of the two, with onsite restaurant, it is still a site to see. Since it’s one of the most photographed spots on the island, be sure to bring your camera.

Our lost stop on our Bermudian beach hop was the Hamilton Princess Beach Club. It was a gorgeous private beach that is exclusively for hotel guests. Because of its cove, the waters were calm and perfect for wading or relaxing in one of their in-water hammocks. This beach has all of the amenities you would need or want without the crowds or pre-planning.

Finally, this little cover-up from Lilly Pulitzer was exactly the thing to wear while walking the beaches, but still appropriate for grabbing a casual lunch. Underneath, I was hiding this one-piece suit from J. Crew in a bubblegum shade of pink. Pink is never really my number one color of choice, but 1) it just seemed like the color to wear in Bermuda, and 2) the color was surprisingly flatter for faking a summer tan.

Although I have a little more Bermuda content up my sleeve, I’m all done bombarding you with what an amazing trip I had. Until next time Bermuda, but I’ll see you soon!

Our Own Private Beach

I know I’ve been raving about our stay at the Hamilton Princess Hotel in Bermuda, but I have one more amenity to share that just really puts the whole experience above and beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. Just a quick shuttle ride away, you can experience your very own beach.

The Princess Beach Club is an exclusive and very private beach reserved just for hotel guests. A scenic twenty minutes away, once you get there, you will find yourself in a little slice of heaven. The beach is situated in a cove that keeps the waters calm and protected from the Atlantic Ocean.

This beach have a little something for everyone. Since David and I were on a romantic trip, we enjoyed the nearby ‘Lookout Point’ to grab sweeping views of the Ocean. We also did a little bit of exploring and wandering into this enormous field that I learned they reserve for weddings. Nearby is a set of hidden stairs that practically walks you right into the water. For the traveling family, the Beach Club is equipped with a playground and an ample amount of toys for the little ones. During the peak season, their very own, on-site restaurant is open. You can spend literally all day there and never have to leave.

Since we were visiting Bermuda during the quiet part of the year, the restaurant wasn’t opened. Instead, we packed a lunch and had the entire beach to ourselves. I say that’s a pretty good trade-off! It was also a great time to debut my favorite island souvenir, this colorful sweater with a Bermuda seal. The English Sports Shop in Hamilton has been dressing the island since 1918 and is the perfect place to grab some island staples (Hello Bermuda shorts!) When you find yourself on Hamilton’s colorful Front Street, the shop definitely requires a visit!

Love from NYC,
Katie
