There’s something about the shift into summer that invites a quiet refresh. As the days grow longer and the breeze a little softer, I find myself gravitating toward pieces that reflect the ease of the season—lightweight linens, soft cottons, and silhouettes that feel as effortless as they do elegant. J.Crew continues to strike that beautiful balance between classic New England sensibility and the sun-drenched romance of the South of France. In this latest roundup, I’ve gathered a few favorite new arrivals that speak to that intersection: relaxed yet refined, timeless yet full of possibility.

Whether you’re packing for a weekend on the coast or simply looking to elevate your everyday warm-weather wardrobe, these new arrivals from J.Crew offer a welcome sense of simplicity and polish. Summer style doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to feel good. And with pieces like these, it’s easy to dress with intention and ease all season long.

Love from Connecticut,
Katie

There’s something about Sézane that feels instantly, unmistakably French—like a café au lait on a quiet Parisian morning or the soft click of ballet flats on cobblestone streets. Founded in 2013 by Morgane Sézalory, the brand was born from a love of vintage and an intuitive sense of timelessness. What started as a curated online storefront of reworked vintage finds has evolved into a full-fledged fashion house rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability, and effortless elegance. Each piece feels considered—never trend-chasing, always chic. And while Sézane is now beloved worldwide, its spirit remains distinctly Parisian: romantic, classic, and quietly bold.

Colette Striped Marinière

Few things evoke French style quite like a striped marinière, and SĂ©zane’s Colette Tee is the gold standard. Crafted from organic cotton with just the right amount of structure, this top adds a fresh, nautical touch to any look. The slightly boxy fit feels modern yet relaxed—perfect tucked into high-waisted denim or layered under a trench coat. Whether you’re heading to a seaside cafĂ© or just chasing that effortless “je ne sais quoi,” the Colette Tee is as essential as a good red lipstick.

Le Crop Denim

Sézane’s denim is one of its best-kept secrets, and the Le Crop style might just be the hero piece of the collection. With a flattering high-rise waist and a just-right ankle crop, these jeans elongate the leg and pair beautifully with everything from sneakers to heels. The structured denim holds its shape without feeling stiff, and the vintage-inspired washes make them feel like an old favorite from the start.

Milo Handbag

If you’re looking for a handbag that feels both polished and practical, look no further than the Milo. With its structured silhouette and timeless design, it’s a piece that effortlessly transitions from weekday to weekend. The adjustable strap allows for both shoulder and crossbody wear, while the rich leather only gets better with age. The Milo is a quiet luxury—the kind of accessory that speaks softly, but stylishly.

Scott Trench Coat

A wardrobe essential reimagined the Sézane way, the Scott Trench Coat is as timeless as it is practical. With classic tailoring, storm flaps, and a flattering belt tie, it captures all the hallmarks of a heritage trench—yet the fit and finish feel refreshingly modern. Lightweight but substantial, it’s the kind of coat that elevates a rainy day and pulls together even the simplest outfit.

Betty Cardigan

Feminine and nostalgic, the Betty Cardigan brings a subtle retro vibe with its cropped length, openwork details, and delicate buttons. It’s the type of layer that instantly softens a look—throw it over a cami with jeans, or wear it buttoned up with a midi skirt and slingbacks. The Betty is one of those wardrobe pieces that feels both special and everyday, with just enough vintage flair to set it apart.

Pippa Dress

A modern romantic, the Pippa Dress floats between seasons and occasions with ease. Its feminine silhouette—complete with a faux wrap waist, short sleeves, and a breezy skirt—feels straight out of a Provençal daydream. Whether worn with sandals and a straw hat or dressed up with heels and earrings, it’s a piece that moves with you, offering elegance without ever feeling overdone.

Anya High Heels

These are the heels you’ll reach for again and again. With a walkable block heel, timeless almond toe, and braided detailing, the Anya Heels are both pretty and pragmatic. They transition beautifully from day to night, from office to occasion, pairing just as well with tailored pants as they do with breezy dresses. If you’re searching for a shoe that balances beauty with comfort, Anya is it.

Gaspard Sweater

Arguably Sézane’s most iconic knit, the Gaspard Sweater is the definition of versatility. With its dainty mother-of-pearl buttons and reversible design, it can be worn as a cardigan or a crewneck—whichever suits your mood. The mohair and alpaca blend gives it a soft, airy quality, while the delicate knit makes even the simplest outfit feel elevated. Style it over a slip dress or pair it with tailored trousers for a cozy-meets-chic moment.

Building a Sézane wardrobe is less about chasing trends and more about curating timeless pieces that fit your life—season after season, year after year. Each item blends French elegance with thoughtful design, creating a closet that feels as beautiful as it is functional. Whether you’re new to the brand or simply refining your collection, these essentials are the perfect foundation for a style that’s classic, effortless, and entirely your own.

French Blue Is the New Neutral

French Blue Is the New Neutral

Similar Jacket || Blouse || Pants || Heels || Handbags || Earrings || Lip Color

Every season has its signature color, and I’ve found myself gravitating toward something a timeless hue this Spring: French blue. Elegant, timeless, and just unexpected enough, this particular shade has become a standout in my wardrobe—not as a bold statement, but as a new kind of neutral. It’s a hue that sits somewhere between chambray and slate, offering all the versatility of navy or beige but with a refreshing twist.

I first fell in love with French blue through a pair of tailored trousers I picked up on a whim. They struck the perfect balance between structured and feminine, classic and cool. I styled them with a cream pussy-bow blouse, a black jacket, and my favorite nude block heels for brunch in Greenwich on an unseasonably cool day. The look felt effortless, but elevated—the kind of outfit you don’t have to think twice about, yet still makes you feel pulled together.

That’s the magic of French blue—it works with almost anything. Much like camel or white or navy, it acts as a grounding color, one you can build an entire look around. But unlike those traditional neutrals, French blue offers a bit more personality. It feels intentional. Chic. A little Parisian, even. And because it’s not overdone, it feels fresh in a way that a typical beige or black just doesn’t right now.

Since that first outfit, I’ve been experimenting with ways to incorporate more of this shade into my everyday style. It pairs beautifully with white cotton poplin, rich chocolate brown, soft grey, and even unexpected shades like olive or bright red. One of my favorite recent pairings? A French blue striped shirt from Sézane tucked into white jeans, finished with red Margaux ballet flats and a straw bag for a walk with Brennan on a warm afternoon. It felt polished but playful—easy enough for a walk along the water, but pulled together enough to stop for lunch somewhere charming. That’s the sweet spot I always try to find.

What’s even better is that French blue transitions beautifully across seasons. It’s light enough to wear in spring and summer, but rich enough to layer with deeper hues in fall and winter. Picture it with a chunky camel knit, or under a navy wool coat with suede boots. It also works well across textures—from crisp cotton and linen to silk, wool, and tweed. It’s a true chameleon, and one I’ll be wearing far beyond the current trend cycle.

There’s also a certain mood that comes with French blue—one that feels calm, confident, and quietly luxurious. It reminds me of vintage French workwear and the blue of Parisian doors. It feels classic without being boring. And it fits right into the aesthetic I’m always chasing: polished, feminine, and just a little bit European.

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe with something that feels both fresh and timeless, French blue is an easy place to start. You don’t need to overhaul your closet—just try swapping in a pair of French blue trousers, a silky blouse, or even a colorful handbag. Add it to the rotation of your favorite denim, your go-to white tee, or the everyday knits you already love. It’s the kind of color that plays well with others, but still knows how to stand on its own.

So yes, I’m officially declaring French blue the new neutral. Not because it replaces anything, but because it enhances everything. And in a season where we’re all looking for simplicity with a touch of elegance, it might just be the color that does it all.

Love from Connecticut,
Katie
