Excuse me while I channel my inner 1950’s housewife. Although it’s not the most youthful style, I simply adore a mid-length shirt dress. It’s such a timeless look that is always elegant. Often, you have to splurge a little bit to find a piece that fits perfectly and masters the vintage inspiration. When Target debuted this year’s Designer Dress collection, I think I did a twirl when I saw the good things to come. There were so many gorgeous pieces at budget-friendly prices under $60. While it’s clear that I have a favorite, I thought it would be fun to round up my favorites from the three featured designers, helping you add something new to your closet.

Alexis

Alexis was founded in 2008 by a mother-daughter team of Ana and Alexis. They can be found in over 250 boutiques worldwide, and a dress from their collection typically costs between $400 and $700. There is something effortlessly chic about each of their pieces. Bold prints seamlessly flow with white eyelets and colorful power suits. The same expectation can be found in their collection for Target. There is an incredible selection of shirt dresses, including this striking cobalt blue piece. On the other end of the spectrum or more boho-inspired elements. Think laced wrap dresses and slouchy mini-dresses. Even though I love all three collections, this is the one I naturally gravitated towards. It meshed with both sides of my personality.

Christopher John Rogers

Talk about a chance to have a slice of high fashion. Admittedly, this designer wouldn’t be for everyone. At my local Target, I heard potential shoppers say, “I don’t get it.” Well, it just means that they can shop for something else. Christopher John Rogers is an NYC-based designer. He does not shy away from bold colors and patterns in daring (almost gravity-defying) silhouettes. Most recently, he was named the 2020 CFDA American Emerging Designer of the Year. The collection for Target leans on similar themes, but in a way that is still attainable for your closet. This gingham midi-dress instantly spoke to me. I ordered but found that it ran a little snug in the chest, so consider sizing up. It should also come as no surprise that I adore this rainbow shirt dress. Again, I have a type.

RIXO

Rixo is the brand I was probably the most familiar with before this collection. This British label has long been on my radar because of their vacation-ready pieces in dainty, feminine florals. I adore the collection for Target for that very reason. There are so many beautiful prints that are just perfect for summer. The piece that most caught my eye was this patchwork slip dress. It’s currently hanging in my closet and fits like a dream. I can’t wait to break it out for a warm-weather date night with nude heels. It hugs in all of the right places and is incredibly flattering!

Between all three collections, there are just so many options to pick! Shop my favorites or take a close look at what each designer has to offer. Is something you love sold out online? Don’t sweat yet! Stop by your local Target, and it may just be there waiting for you. Happy shopping!

Fresh Pajamas with Printfresh

Pajama Short Set (c/o) || Pajama Sleep Shirt (c/o)

Since I work from home full time, it’s incredibly tempting to just stay in my pajamas all day long. Somehow I find the power to get fully dressed, which makes me so much more productive in the long run. The question is, “what happens when you find gorgeous pajamas that somehow feel dressier than most outfits?” That’s exactly what was swimming around in my head when I found Printfresh. I was beyond honored when they reached out to let me try their pieces in person. Since I think everyone deserves a new, fresh pair of pajamas for lounging, let’s talk about why you’ll love this female-founded company.

Who is Printfresh?

Printfresh was founded in 2017 by textile designer and fashion entrepreneur, Amy Voloshin. Their sleepwear isĀ designed in the United States, in Philadelphia, and produced with partners in India, specifically Jaipur. This stunning destination is high on my bucket list because of its long history of block print art and fabrics. The Printfresh team travels to India biannually to develop new products and find inspiration. More importantly, they believe in the value of partnering with socially and environmentally conscious vendors.

What’s available?

If it involves anything in the world of sleepwear, Printfresh has a piece that you are sure to love! Robes, sleep sets, nightgowns, sleep shirts. All in unique block print designs. Recently, they even launched a men’s collection, just in case you want to match your significant other. On top of that, you can find a whole array of cozy bedtime accessories, such as candles and journals. If you’re wondering my preferred style, I like to combat the constant Florida heat by wearing either sleep shirts and short sets.

Why you’ll love them?

As soon as you slip on a pair of Printfresh pajamas, you feel the difference. The handcrafted, organic cotton is lightweight without skimping on quality. No matter which pattern you choose, they are all simply beautiful. Take the time to study them, and you’ll see something new every time. I was also delighted to find that both the sleep shirt and short set included pockets. Even for a pair of pajamas, it’s such a thoughtful detail to have. After testing them out with a goodnight’s sleep, I can wholly say that they are as comfortable as they are beautiful.

Thank you again to Printfresh for sending me two exquisite pajamas to add to my collection. They are such unique pieces that have instantly become my go-to. These pajamas would make for the perfect gift, either for a loved one or yourself. See for yourself, and you’re sure to fall in love too!

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month

May, Cabana Life, Skin Cancer, Awareness, Health

Dress (Long-Sleeve Version) || Sandals ($50 off with code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE) || Clutch

Let’s rewind the clock a few years. I was a collegiate swimmer at Florida State University. Growing up as a swimmer in the Sunshine State, I had nearly ten years of two practices per day in the sun. I didn’t know it at the time, but my skin was screaming for help. My skin tan extremely easily, so much so that I’m often confused for being Italian or Greek. Since I never burned, I thought that meant I was in the clear. Why would I worry about sunscreen? The answer came to me as I was looking through old pictures. The sun damage on my skin was absolutely horrifying. More important than the fact that it looked awful is that I was putting myself at risk for skin cancer. Since May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, I’m very proud to partner with Cabana Life to share a quick reminder to make skin health a top priority. Here are four easy tips to add to your daily routine.

Load Up on Daily SPF

Ā Don’t just save the bottle of sunscreen for the beach or the pool. Each time you go outside, your body is hit with a wave of UV rays. Over the course of your lifetime, that can add up. Since 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer before age 70, it’s best to be proactive. Part of my daily routine is putting on a light layer of SPF 40 sunscreen to keep my skin safe. You find the brand that’s right for me, but my favorites are theĀ Unseen Sunscreen from SupergoopĀ because of its clean chemical formula andĀ Coola Organic SunscreenĀ to keep your whole body safe. Don’t forget someĀ SPF for your lips!Ā

Protect Your Beautiful Face

The skin on your face is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of your body. It’s also the most noticeable part of you. Because of that, you want to take a few extras steps to cover and protect your skin. On my daily walks through the neighborhood, I always grabĀ a wide-brimmed hatĀ to keep my face in the shade. I know it makes a huge difference to keep me cool and out of the intense Florida sun. Obviously, it’s essential to wear sunglasses to protect your vision, but they also help protect you from skin cancer as well. I recently learned that melanomas could also form on your eyes, just like any other part of your skin. Look for lenses that have 100% UVA/UVB protection.Ā KreweĀ is one of my favorite brands and checks all of the boxes to keep my eyes healthy.Ā

Wear An Extra Dose SPF

Cabana Life is a woman-owned company and founded by a skin cancer survivor. While a simple t-shirt typically offers only an equivalent of SPF 5 coverage, their clothing includes SPF 50+. That means it helps block 98% of UVA and UVB rays. While skin safety is their number one goal, they don’t want you to skip on style. Their dresses and tops are perfect for both lounging in the sun and a night on the town. My favorite style is hands down,Ā the Sleeveless Terry Tunic. Available in a wide range of colors, wearing it makes me feel like I’m in a Slim Aarons photo from 1960’s Palm Beach. This style is a classic, but their whole collection is current and fun. For even more protection, you’ll loveĀ the Long-Sleeve Terry Tunic.Ā

Schedule A Yearly Check-Up

It’s so easy to let annual checkups with your primary care doctor pass by, but there’s one that I never miss out on! I’ve been visiting my local dermatologist annually since I was in middle school. He checks my skin for new spots or ones that may have rapidly grown since my last appointment. While your dermatologist knows what to look for, I recommend making a note of anything new that pops up beforehand. You know your skin best, and new moles or spots may be even more obvious to you. Having an annual dermatologist appointment is also the perfect opportunity to discuss sunscreen recommendations that best match your skin type. If you haven’t seen your dermatologist in a while, book your appointment today!

May, Cabana Life, Skin Cancer, Awareness, Health

Having the darkest tan possible was the number one priority when I was younger. My goodness, how things have changed! While I can’t undo the years of damage I’ve done to my skin, skin health is a top priority from here on out. Be kind to your skin, and it will help keep you healthy and beautiful for years to come!
