Fall always seems to be my busiest season. With the reprieve for Florida’s insufferably hot summer weather, there’s always events scheduled for both work and personal. Despite all that has happened this year, the same is true in 2020. David and I do our best to stay safe, but I personally appreciate the reminder that the world keeps turning. My friends have a lot of incredible milestones to celebrate and I want to be right there with them. This month, I renewed my Rent the Runway membership and it has been such a lifesaver! I can order something special and it will be at my doorstep a few days later.
What is Rent the Runway?
Rent the Runway originally was a service to borrow a dress for a special occasion, between 4 and 8 days. Recently, they moved into the subscription space where you can rent four shipments of items for as long as you want. The base lets you pick four items at a time for $159 per month. Keep them for as long as you need and swap when you’re ready. If you want more than four, it’s only an additional $39 per piece.
What is the shipping policy?
If you order an item by 2 in the afternoon, you can expect it to be delivered within two days. Each Rent the Runway garment bag already includes the return address label. When you’re ready, all you have to do is pack your items and drop them off with Fed-Ex. Instead of waiting for them to receive your shipment, you just marked it “sent’ and you are free to set up your next order.
What items are available?
Whether you are looking for dresses, blouses, pants, even accessories, you’ll find something with RTR Unlimited. They even have maternity and are starting to dip into children’s wear. Rent the Runway strives to be inclusive and carries sizes 0 to 22. Because there are so many different brands, it can be hard to know the exact size you need. No worries! There are plenty of in-depth reviews for most items, with pictures, to give you a good sense of sizing. I’ve found those to be so helpful when I’m in between sizes.
What do I normally rent?
Although I’m trying to introduce myself to new brands, I’m still a creature of habit. Just like in my actual closet, items from J. Crew and Lilly Pulitzer are always top on my list. Since I don’t quite have the budget to always splurge at Kate Spade or Tory Burch, it’s nice to borrow the items and have them for a little bit.
If you know me at all, then you can probably guess that most of my rentals are blue dresses. I love classic silhouettes and modest necklines. Rent the Runway releases new items every day and I’m always adding to my ‘favorites’ list.
