6 Years of the Natalie Flat

Sarah Flint, Natalie, Flats, shoes

Sweater || Jeans || Flats ($50 off with code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE) || Similar Handbag

It’s not everyday that you celebrate a shoe style’s birthday, but when you find the most perfect pair, you make an exception! About a year ago, I began working with Sarah Flint and have gotten to know her team and brand on a whole different level. Once you invest in a pair of her flats or heels, you just won’t look at footwear the same. Let’s take a second to get to know her most popular pair!

The Shoes

The number one name you need to know in her collection is Natalie, as in the Natalie Flat. It has been wowing the fashion world for the past 6 years. A favorite of Megan Markle and Cindy Crawford, these flats have been featured in over 85 major publications. With 7 plus color options available, this little shoe can be a workhorse no matter how you describe your personal style. My latest pair is the simply beautiful Saddle Vanchetta leather.

The Details

Now, let’s talk about what makes these flats truly special. First off, you know you’re investing in a truly high quality pair with Sarah Flint. Handcrafted in Italy, often times in the same shops as major fashion houses, the Natalie is made from vegetable tanned leather. An extra layer of padding makes them a pair you can wear all day, even if you’re constantly on your feet. A classic pointed toe design becomes instantly distinguishable with the fun, asymmetrical bow detail. If nothing else, you can take comfort in knowing you’re supporting a woman founded business.

The Delivery

Each pair of Sarah Flint shoes, including the Natalie Flat, is delivered (very quickly I might add) in an eye-catching navy box. So much attention to detail is given to every aspect of packaging, including the dust bags and tied ribbon. There’s even a card to let you know who expertly crafted your shoes. On a separate note, Grazie Mille to Fortunato for my latest pair of heels. That’s such an expected and personal touch that I still can’t get over.

The Style

The best thing about the Natalie Flat, especially in Saddle Vanchetta, is that they can literally be worn everyday, regardless of the season. While it’s still feeling hot hot in Florida, I’m hoping to daydream of cooler fall weather. My flats perfectly round out my casual chic outfit with an ivory linen sweater and dark wash jeans. They even look right at home with midi sundresses or a crisp pair of chino shorts.

The Discount

If you’ve yet to invest in a pair of Sarah Flint, I can’t recommend them enough! From block heel pumps, sky high stilettos, and strappy sandals, I wear and love the full spectrum of what she has to offer. To try a pair for yourself, be sure to use the code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE to receive $50 off your first pair. Don’t forget to let me know what you think!

Starting My Next Career

Happy Monday everyone! After a blissful weekend of really nothing at all, I’m ready to start the work week with some vigor! In the past years, I’ve gone on and on about the start of the new school year, but you may have noticed that I’ve been pretty quiet on that front. That’s because I have some exciting news to share! After actively searching since living in NYC, I am finally starting my next career in social media and writing. Better still, I get to stay in the education world!

My new company is NYC based and in the Educational Tech space, specializing in creating engaging science and social studies content. My officially title is Community Manager and to say it’s a dream come true would be a severe understatement. While I’ve been along my new career path for just over a month, there’s still so much to learn! Essentially, I have the privilege of representing the company with the mindset of a teacher, creating content and interacting with educators to specifically fulfill their needs. It is sincerely the perfect job for me and I’m so honored to be able to join this team.

In my personal circle of friends and family, there were a lot of questions of whether or not I left the classroom because of COVID. While the stress of continuing as a teacher during a global pandemic weighed heavily on me, it was by no means a driving force to my decision. When I was living in Manhattan, I had a taste of the marketing and copy world. I had applied for dozens upon dozens of jobs, but just couldn’t quite land myself one. I simply love the irony of finally being able to find an NYC writing job quickly after moving back to Florida.

Now I get to fully dive into the world of working from home. Over the next few weeks, David and I are really going to settle into our new house. All I can say is, thank goodness we’re going to have more space! My little home office is starting to take shape nicely, and by that, I mean my desk and computer monitor are up! I’ve been scouring Pinterest, looking for some decor inspiration and can’t wait to share the final result. Until then, my dog’s bed is right next to me and that’s really all I need!

Even though it became my dream, there was a piece of me that didn’t think leaving the teaching world was possible. Now, it all seems like a great success story. If you’re in the process of switching careers, or at least daydreaming, my biggest advice is to keep going! There will be some rejection and lots of ignored e-mails. Keep at it! Eventually, with hard work and diligence, the perfect career and company will present itself and everything will fall into place.

Fall for Leopard Print

Fall for Leopard Print

fall, leopard print, Florida, leopard

Dress || Wedges || Handbag || Earrings

With Labor Day Weekend in our rearview mirror, and the summer winding down, it’s so tempting to think about the fall season. I actually caved and bought some pumpkin spice almonds over the weekend. I know, it’s a big move for me! Even if I was ready to fully embrace autumn, the temperatures are still in the 90s here in Florida. I don’t plan on investing in any cozy sweaters or corduroys just yet! One of my seasonal “cheats” comes down to finding summery pieces in perfect fall patterns. On top of that list? Why it’s leopard print, of course!

In the words of the iconic Jennifer Lyons, “As far as I’m concerned, leopard is a neutral.” While it’s something that can absolutely be worn all summer long, I think it fits perfectly into a fall wardrobe. The bold patterns, with rich tans and blacks are right at home with the autumn colors. Some of the cutest leopard pieces are made for cooler weather, so what is a Florida girl to do?

A great leopard print alternative is this budget friendly sundress from H&M. At a whopping $30, I know I’m going to get my money’s worth in just a few wears. The print is bright and vivid and makes such a big statement. The boho style is surprisingly flattering and comfortable enough to wear all day. Can you say perfect for a put together, work-from-home look?

While I love this dress for a “fall” in Florida, it can easily be worn on a scorching day. My go-to black Castañer espadrilles and handbag from The Daily Edited allows it to transition from season to season. As the weather finally gets cooler, I love the idea of swapping footwear for either black Sarah Flint ballet flats or leather heeled booties. Be honest, would this black felt hat be too much?

My transition to autumn may not be the quickest, but it’s something to look forward to. Yes, even in Florida! When the temperature really drops, I’ll be trying to find a happy medium between the seasons. Expect to see more warm fall colors, with just a touch of the Sunshine State. Until then, you can fall for this beautiful leopard print dress!

Love from Florida,
Katie
