Wearing Sarah Flint Perfect Block Sandals

Wearing Sarah Flint Perfect Block Sandals

Sarah Flint, Perfect Block Sandal, code, summer

Dress || Heels ($50 off with code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE) || Clutch || Earrings || Bracelet

Now that it’s officially summer, I’m ready to wear all of my sandals without abandon. The newest pair in my collection is the gorgeous Perfect Block Sandal from Sarah Flint in White Calf. These heels are simply stellar! In case you’re in the market for your next summer shoe, here’s look at the heels I’ll be wearing for the rest of the season.

What To Know About The Perfect Block Sandal

This is the newest style in Sarah Flint’s Perfect collection. Why are they perfect you ask? Well, it comes down to four different features. A wider toe box, anatomical arch support, extra padding, and block heel were all designed with comfort in mind. You can literally wear them all day and not even feel the slightest pinch. I’ve gotten to know several different ‘perfect’ styles and these may be the most comfortable ones yet.

Why I Love Them

The block heel sandal has been one of my favorite shoe styles for years. I’ve owned several pairs from different brands. Admittedly, I never purchased quality. That was a big mistake! These heels are handcrafted in Italy with some of the best materials out there. Both the calf leather and suede feel so buttery soft when you slip them on. I promise you, these shoes are all there and will last the test of time.

How I Wear Them

Admittedly, I don’t think I’ve ever owned a pair of white heels before. It can be a little intimidating. They make quite a statement. Even though they are so bright, I think it’s best to wear them like any other neutral, especially in the spring or summertime. I would describe them as ladylike and modest, making them perfect for a this midi-length shirt dress from Target. I have a few weddings coming up later this year and they will be perfect to wear while I cut a rug on the dance floor.

How To Keep Them Clean

The hardest thing about wearing white heels is the paranoia of keeping them clean. I eyeballed each and every patch of dirt and puddle I walked by while wearing these. When it comes to keeping white leather shoes clean, Magic Erasers will be your friend. I recommend giving them a quick clean-up after each wear to keep them looking fresh and mint condition.

To try these heels for yourself, you can get $50 off your first order using the code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE. No matter what shoe from Sarah Flint catches your eye, they are guaranteed to be the epitome of comfort and style.

Print Mixing with Lilly Pulitzer

Print Mixing with Lilly Pulitzer

Blouse || Shorts || Similar Flats || Handbag || Earrings

I believe that print mixing is a rare and beautiful art form. Until very recently, it’s not something that I would have ever felt comfortable trying for myself. Actually, the first time I ever took a stab at it was back in February of this year, with a post about Valentine’s Day. It helped me quickly learning that, while daunting, mixing your favorite prints can be a no brainer. Now that I’m a newly converted fan, I decided to try it once more with a little help from Lilly Pulitzer.

The easiest way to try print mixing for yourself is by using colors that perfectly match on another. From there, it’s basically like pairing naturals. I think Lilly Pulitzer goes a great job of naming the cheerful colors to give you a leg up on the task. The color I’m featuring today is called Zanzibar Blue, making this a match made in heaven.

I’m a instant fan of the how the toile print, inspired by both Palm Beach and Charleston, pairs up with simple dots. The two, although very different, don’t see to compete with each other in the slightest. It’s just enough of an unexpected twist and is still well into my comfort zone.

Other mixing ideas are as wide and varied as the personality of the person wearing it. Since I subtly think stripes go with everything, that may be my first recommendation into the print mixing game. Florals and stripes. Leopard and stripes. Dots and florals. For when I’m feeling particularly emboldened, I can’t wait to try floral and more florals.

All though there is no set rule, I love how neutral shoes and accessories brings everything together. It doesn’t distract from the task and hand, making print mixing even easier! The fact that my go-to rattan loafers and bamboo arc clutch both go with everything!

This is your personal invitation to try something new. I know I’m extremely late to this style, but I simply love the love the whole effect. It’s gives a more laissez-faire feel and somehow feels put together. Wear it on vacation, while out on the town, or to work. You’ll be sure to turn heads in the best possible way.

Revisiting THE Dress of 2019

Revisiting THE Dress of 2019

Dress || Sandals ($100 off with code BAKATIE50) || Sunglasses || Earrings

Since working from home, I’ve been all about wearing and rewearing my midi or maxi dresses. The number one item in my rotation is this boho inspired dress that I’ve had for nearly a year. Nicknamed the ‘Amazon nightgown’, it was all the rage last summer and why wouldn’t it be? It comes in about 40 different colors and is under $35. Funny enough, I was even interviewed by the New York Post about the the huge trend. It definitely felt like I officially had made it as a New Yorker with that phone call.

One of the questions that the interviewer asked has always stuck with me. “Are you still going to wear this dress beyond the trend?” I gave a quick yes, but there was no way to be sure. I absolutely loved them, but they weren’t always seasonally appropriate in the Big Apple. At the time, I didn’t know a move back to Florida was on the immediate horizon. Since moving back, I’ve worn the dress much more often and have even added a few more colors to my closet. The breezy style has been great for hot Florida days. Just like when it first hit the scene, I’m still bombarded with compliments each time I wear it.

Cut to the Spring of 2020, when life threw us all a major curve ball. All of a sudden, the notion of spending the entire day in your pajamas and going out in public in them doesn’t seem so odd. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I imagine that the popularity of said ‘nightgown’ has skyrocketed. I’ve even seen a new term, the housedress, being thrown around. Whatever name you decide to use, now is a great time to get comfortable and wear what continues to be a closet favorite.

Many different brands and designers are starting to come out with their version of the house dress. They come in a whole range of colors, styles, and price points. Even though it seems there’s a pretty standard way of wearing it, I’m always experimenting and styling mine in different ways. I’ve dressed it up with nude heels and down with a simple pair of sandals. Sometimes it’s best to wear with no footwear at all! As for me, I prefer to wear with espadrille wedges. It just really caps off the whole boho-inspired feel.

Sometimes, what starts out as a trend ends up becoming a classic in its own way. We had no idea that 2020 would be the rise of working from home, but I’m so happy to have a few choice pieces on hand to stay both comfortable and chic. If it’s something you want to try for yourself, take a look below to shop your options.
