Apart from getting married, one of the best things about my wedding day was getting ready with my bridesmaids and my mom. The setting was the beautiful, historic Vinoy hotel in downtown St. Pete, and across the street from my wedding reception venue. My mom had booked an amazing suite with all of the room we could possibly ask for.

Because of hair and makeup for six people, our day started bright and early at 9 am. Mimosas set the tone off right and we had scones and fruit salad catered from Publix to munch on. To thank my lovely ladies for being a part of my day, I outfitted the gals in night shirts from J. Crew. They were monogrammed, of course. My mom got a very special pair of pajamas, also from J. Crew. It was the perfect wardrobe to relax, sip bubbly, and get gussied up. I also gifted my bridesmaids this initial bracelet from Bauble Bar. When I was a bridesmaid, the necklace I was gifted instantly became so special. I still wear it often and think of my dear friend. I hope my ladies feel the same way.

As we were getting ready, Cathy Durig, my photographer for the day, took absolutely gorgeous pictures. They included all of the details, my girls, and some very special moments. She even was able to take some picture of David and his groomsmen. While our suite was perfect, the boys had a private rooftop balcony and view of the downtown skyline. I’m hoping to share some of their pictures in the upcoming weeks. So, stay tuned if you need some bro inspiration.

As I write this, all I can think about is how blessed I feel to not only have found my dream man in David, but how I also have such amazing friends who were there with me every step of the way.

Love from NYC,
Katie

I am so happy to finally share some of the pictures from our wedding day. Cathy Durig, our photographer, is just so talented! I’m going to have some fun sharing our wedding day details with you.

Let’s start with the dress! Dresses with a lot of poof and frill have never really spoken to me. I also wasn’t look for something too tight or form-fitting. My mom gave the input that whatever I wore had to have some kind of strap. After shopping around, I came across the winner at David’s Bridal. The details on the bodice and slight cap sleeve were so flattering, but I secretly loved the fact that it was from the clearance section. My parents had given me a very generous dress budget, but I didn’t want to go overboard. Instead, I was able to splurge on this pair of Loeffler Randall heels that I knew I would be able to wear more than once.

The most important detail of my dress was the belting I was able to add. My Grandma Brennan and I were incredibly close. In fact, I wanted to honor her by getting married on her birthday. Unfortunately, her own wedding dress, with its beautiful lace detail and bateau neckline, did not stand the test of time or Florida humidity. The only salvageable piece was the beading that went around the waist and neckline. It had almost an ivy quality to the pattern and I knew I wanted to incorporate it somehow. The ladies at the David’s Bridal alterations team were to able to make it the belt on my own dress and could not have done a better job! I’ll always have it to treasure.

Now, let’s talk about David. How handsome does he look in his royal blue suit?! His groomsmen didn’t look half bad either. Our wedding colors were navy and emerald green, but the pop of lighter blue was the perfect statement. The local plant life added as the backdrop to tie in the little hints of green accents.

As I wrote this, I realized that I wanted to use the word ‘perfect’ to describe each and every aspect of our day. The stress that over a year of planning brought instantly melted away when the big day finally arrived and there’s not one piece I would change. So many pieces contributed to this day going so smoothly and I will try and share everything for all of my brides-to-be out there: our reception details, my girls and I getting ready, why we decided to have a Catholic wedding… If you have any questions about anything (and there’s no detail too small), be sure to ask!

Love from NYC,
Katie

The Bridesmaid Dress I’ll Even Rewear

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer || Wedges: ASOS || Clutch: Tuckernuck || Earrings: Kate Spade

It’s a line bridesmaid all over have heard before, “you can totally wear this bridesmaids dress again.” Sometimes that’s borderline true, other times, it’s flat out false. The biggest thing I was thinking about as a bride was making the dress process easy and truly making it versatile. Plan A, a rental company that went out of business, and Plan B, an ill-fitting item from ASOS, both didn’t work out. That whole ‘easy’ dream flew out the door.

From there, I still wanted to hold onto that reusable aspect. After some brainstorming with my (very flexible) bridesmaids, we came across this little navy dress from Lilly Pulitzer. When I tried on the dress for myself, I instantly fell in love and wanted this dress in my closet. I am putting my money where my mouth is, so to speak, and bought the dress for myself. The navy material is soft and flowy, but still has a flattering shape. The golden details are just gorgeous, plain and simple. It upscales an otherwise simple dress for any sort of event. Spoiler alert, it was perfect for my girls on my wedding day. Pictures will be coming out, hopefully, soon.

You could wait until this year’s After Party Sale from Lilly Pulitzer, where it may or may not be on sale. Rumor has it that the sale is being pushed back a few weeks to the end of September. But, I have to say, this dress is totally worth the price tag! It’s such a sweet little number to add to your closet and I can almost guarantee you’ll wear it more than once!

Love from Florida,
Katie
