Shop My Makeup Bag

For years, I believed a full makeup routine required a drawer full of products and far more time than I was willing to give. But the older I get, and especially since becoming a mom, I’ve embraced a different approach. I am a makeup minimalist in both time and number of products. I want something that enhances rather than masks, simplifies rather than complicates.

Because of that, I prioritize quality and clean beauty. If I am only using a handful of products each day, they need to perform beautifully. I have been using MERIT Beauty for several years now, and it has completely reshaped both my routine and my mindset. The formulas are streamlined, the shades are wearable, and everything feels effortless yet polished.

Here is my honest review of the MERIT products I use consistently.

Great Skin Moisturizer

This priming moisturizer is the foundation of my routine. It hydrates without feeling heavy and gives my skin a soft, healthy base before I apply anything else. I love that it smooths the skin just enough to create a natural canvas without requiring a separate primer. On minimal makeup days, this alone makes my skin look more awake.

Great Skin Instant Glow Serum

If I had to choose one product that instantly makes a difference, it would be this serum. It adds a subtle luminosity that looks like real skin, not shimmer. I use it before makeup for an overall glow, or press a bit onto high points of my face when I want extra radiance. It truly lives up to its name.

Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick

Shade: Bisque

I am not a heavy foundation person, and this complexion stick fits perfectly into my routine. The shade Bisque blends seamlessly into my skin and offers buildable coverage exactly where I need it. I use it under my eyes, around my nose, and on any redness. It evens out my complexion while still letting my skin show through.

Bronze Balm

Shade: Seine

This is the product that gives me subtle warmth year-round. The shade Seine adds natural definition without looking muddy or overly sculpted. I swipe it along my cheekbones and temples and blend with a brush. It gives that just-back-from-a-walk look, which I love.

Flush Balm Blush

Shades: Beverly Hills and Terracotta

I rotate between two shades depending on the season and my mood. Beverly Hills is a soft peach pink that feels fresh and youthful. It is perfect for everyday wear and brightens my face instantly. Terracotta is warmer and creamier, ideal for when I want a bit more depth. Both blend beautifully into the skin and give a natural flush rather than a heavy pop of color.

Day Glow Highlighting Balm

Shade: Citrine

Citrine is a soft gold that adds the prettiest glow without obvious sparkle. I use it on my cheekbones and sometimes dab it onto my eyelids as a subtle shimmery eyeshadow. It ties the whole look together in a way that feels cohesive and understated.

Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara

This mascara gives definition and length without clumping. I appreciate that it enhances my lashes rather than making them look overly dramatic. It is easy to apply and easy to remove, which matters on long days.

Brow 1980 Volumizing Pomade

Shade: Dark Brown

Brows frame the face, and this pomade adds just enough fullness and structure. The dark brown shade works perfectly for me. It holds my brows in place while still looking soft and natural.

Signature Lip Lightweight Lipstick

Shades: Power and Baby

I alternate between two shades depending on the occasion. Power is a matte cool red that instantly elevates even the simplest outfit. It feels classic and confident. Baby is a satiny neutral pink that I wear most days. It enhances my natural lip color and works beautifully with minimal makeup.

Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil

Shade: Biarritz

On days when I want hydration and shine without a full lipstick look, I reach for Biarritz. It gives a subtle wash of color and feels nourishing rather than sticky. It is perfect for quick errands or casual afternoons.

What I appreciate most about MERIT Beauty is how it simplifies everything. The products are intuitive, the shades are wearable, and the formulas feel clean without sacrificing performance. My entire routine fits into a small bag, and I can be fully ready in under ten minutes. More than that, it has changed my mindset around makeup. I no longer feel the need to layer product upon product. I focus on enhancing my features, adding warmth and light, and leaving room for my skin to look like skin. If you are someone who values timeless beauty, clean formulas, and a streamlined routine, MERIT is absolutely worth considering. For a makeup minimalist like me, it has been a lasting staple.

Katie
