Waking up in Bermuda

Waking Up in Bermuda

Bermuda, Hamilton Princess, hotel, Lake Pajamas, coffee

Similar PJ Set

After months of living in New York City, David and I were so ready to pack their bags and jet off to Bermuda for the long weekend. My body had been craving some Vitamin D and a visit to the world renowned beaches found on every corner of the island. What I didn’t quite expect is what a good night’s rest I would get in the process.

Maybe it’s a combination of being the owner of a fussy dog and the ambient noise that comes from the city that never sleeps, but I rarely get a full night’s sleep. Regardless, each night I sunk into our bed at the Hamilton Princess, I was out for the whole night. The sound of local birds singing would eventually wake me up through our pitch black-out curtains.

When we woke up from our deep slumber, it was so tempting to just lay in bed and sleep the day away. That would have been such a big mistake! The best thing you can do is throw on your comfiest vacation clothes and grab a coffee, either from the hotel’s Duchess Cafe or a local coffee shop. Rock Island Coffee was just a quick walk from town. Next, sitting on the harbor, watching the ships pass is practically mandatory, but I promise it does the body good.

See that picture right above? That is the sign of pure and utter contentment. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend giving yourself a good night’s sleep in Bermuda. Simply add a pair of cute pajamas, like this set from LAKE, and you have everything you could possibly need.

Welcome to the Hamilton Princess

Hamilton Princess, Bermuda, Pink, Hotel

Hello dear readers! I may be back in NYC, but I’m so thankful for a long weekend escape with David to Bermuda. It was our first visit to the island, but I know we will back very soon. Any trip that leaves me feeling this relaxed and recharged will always warrant a return trip.

Hamilton Princess, Bermuda, Pink, Hotel

After a long time of coveting, I’m finally able to cross off another hotel from my bucket list. The Hamilton Princess is known as the ‘OG Millenial Pink’ Hotel, but it is so much more than that.

Hamilton Princess, Bermuda, Pink, Hotel

Originally opening in 1885, this hotel has played host to royalty and novelists alike. Nowadays, it sparks the imagination of travelers all over the world who need some rest and relaxation.

Every inch of this sprawling hotel is absolutely pristine and oh-so Instagram worthy. The pink exterior is accented by the impossibly green landscape to epitomize a tropical destination. Situated right on Hamilton Harbor, you also have a front-row seat to a stunning sunset along their marina. While we were guests, we were treated to the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen. Having grown up on the Gulf Coast of Florida, I don’t give that rating lightly.

With the Hamilton Princess, you’re going to get the best of both worlds. Just a quick stroll from downtown Hamilton, you have access to some of the best shopping on the island. If you’re wanting to take in the gorgeous beaches that Bermuda is known for, be sure to take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary jitney bus. In 20 minutes, you’ll find yourself at their exclusive Princess Beach Club, a private cove reserved just for Hamilton Princess guests.

Other amenities at the hotel include a full service spa, shopping, and two waterfront pools. My personal favorite is the infinity pool that overlooks the harbor. It’s the perfect spot to sunbathe and sip a Rum Swizzle, one of the island’s signature cocktails.

No resort would be complete without at least one restaurant and the Hamilton Princess is home to three! Marcus’ is the only celebrity restaurant on the island and the spot we frequented the most often. They have an extensive menu of island inspired bites and their Rum Swizzles are perfection. You can also stop by Crown & Anchor for their afternoon tea or 1609 for waterfront dining. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong!

It would be so wrong of me to talk about the Hamilton Princess without mentioning their extensive art collection. Sometimes looking more like a museum than a hotel, an eclectic mix of pieces are featured all around the grounds. Take in the Warhol and Banksy by joining the hotel’s complimentary guided tour.

I’ve practically written a novel about this hotel and I honestly have so much more I could say. To save you time, and ruin the fun, I have to recommend staying at this palace for yourself. It is truly a place to write home about and will have my heart forever. I can’t wait to go back! If you have any specific questions, be sure to comment below.

The Beach to the Mountains

This is the start to one of the most whirlwind travel weeks I’ve ever had and I’m going from one extreme to the other. It all starts with a quick weekend in Bermuda to escape the cold and hectic city life. The weather forecast is in the 70s, so you know I’m going to be a very happy camper!

Just a few days later, we head to Vermont to celebrate my brother-in-law and future sister-in-law. Although it’s going to be warm by VT standards, the huge swing in temperature is going to be brutal. It’s always nice to see family though and I’m just as excited for this trip as I am any other.

With all of this galavanting around North America, I took a serious look at my closet and tried to find an outfit that could work for both 70° and 30° temperatures. Let me tell you, it’s not an easy feat, but I think I found a great compromise with this simple sweater and jean combo.

It’s probably the most obvious of outfits, but I really think this is the perfect base. Especially with the gorgeous cornflower blue color and crisp white jeans, it can accessorized for whatever the weather throws your way. For Bermuda, a pair of Jeffery Campbell sandals and Tuckernuck silk scarf are all you really need. Vermont will need a little bit more warmth from this LL Bean Parka and Bean Boots.
