Tribeca Date Night

David and I just back from one final summer trip to New York. While the main event was a friend’s birthday festivities in the Hamptons, we got to sneak in a little Manhattan time too. On each trip, I carefully think about dinner plans and reservations. With countless incredible restaurant options to choose from, it’s admittedly a little overwhelming. This round, we hopped on the A Train to Tribeca for date night at one of our favorite spots, Tiny’s. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to debut this stunning Kate Spade dress that I scored on The RealReal. Let’s do a quick breakdown of this perfect date night look!

Black Kate Spade Dress

You can find me on The RealReal almost daily. I consider it a post-work treat to ‘window shop” some of my favorite brands and designers. When I found this Kate Spade dress for just $50, I never added something to my cart faster. I can’t get enough of the ruffled details and tiered hemline. It’s a classic dress that I’ll be able to wear for years to come. Since The RealReal is a luxury consignment store, you may not find the exact dress, but often check as their inventory updates daily. If you need instant gratification on a similar dress, this dress from Boden is a great match.

Sarah Flint Emma Heels

Are you tired of me wearing these Sarah Flint heels yet? They’re almost guaranteed to be tucked away in my carry-on bag whenever I travel. From Paris to Manhattan and even to work conferences, I have worn these heels for miles of walking with hardly a single pain point. The black suede looks even more elevated with the tortoise-inspired heel, but I’ve also had my eye on the Sand Calf Leather. If you want to try a pair of Sarah Flint shoes for yourself, and fall in love while doing so, be sure to use the code SARAHFLINT-BAKATIE at checkout to receive $50 off your first purchase.

Monogrammed Black Handbag

This monogrammed bag from The Daily Edited is another travel must-have. The crossbody makes it practical, while the circle shape gives it a chic construction. I love that the crossbody straps are detachable, so I use it as a handbag on date night. Don’t get me started on the monogram! I have a deep love for this bag. Alas, this is another style that is no longer available, but have no fear! Mansur Gavriel, an excellent go-to brand, offers a similar bag that is nearly identical!

Rose Hermès Lip Color

On this particular stay, our hotel was located in Chelsea, just a block from the Hermes boutique in the Meatpacking District. I couldn’t help but pop inside and do some shopping and perusing. Every so often, I like to treat myself to designer makeup products and instantly gravitated to their stunning lipstick display. I already had the perfect red for special occasions and an everyday pink (both from Chanel). On this day, I was in the market for a fun and upbeat coral color to bring in the final days of summer. The Lip Enhancer in ‘Rose Apricote’ checked the boxes. It goes on like your favorite lip balm but has a matte finish for a subtle pop of color.

Et voila! I was ready for a romantic date night in Tribeca with David. We’re beginning to spend more and more time in New York. All the more opportunities to visit the best restaurants, museums, and shopping in the world! I’ll be sure to have you come along with me every step of the way!

Love from NYC,
Katie

What a whirlwind weekend this has been! When all is said and done, we spent 24 hours traveling, 24 hours in NYC, and 24 hours in the Hamptons. I’m tired thinking about it, but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything! Although there are countless things to draw us to New York, we popped out east to celebrate our friend’s birthday weekend! We stayed at their sweet beach cottage, available to rent on Airbnb, and partied with all things 80s and 90s. After a lazy Sunday morning poolside, we finished our Hamptons stay with lunch at Canoe Place Inn. It’s a stunning new addition to Hampton Bays, and going to speak directly to the Coastal Grandmother in you!

Established 1697

The site of Canoe Place has been a Hampton Bays inn since 1697. Since then, it has hosted Revolutionary War soldiers, celebrities, and presidents. Over 300 years of tradition and love have been brought into the revitalized space. Located on six pristine acres and across the street from the water, you can consider it the ‘first spot, out east,’ It’s a wonderful welcome to Hampton’s life. As you arrive via their fleet of new Grand Wagoneers, you’ll admire quiet gardens, an enviable pool, and interior design that has perfected the modern farmhouse aesthetic. It felt like Ina Garden or Martha Stewart could appear at any second, and I loved every piece of it.

Exploring the Stunning Decor

This was a kid in the candy store moment for me. The interior design found throughout this space is just heavenly. Think warm woods and exposed brick balanced with serene shades of blue and green. I was taking copious mental notes. Even the art found throughout Canoe Place Inn has been thoughtfully curated to mix modern and traditional styles. One particularly striking piece in the hotel lobby pays tribute to the local Shinnecock people who first inhabited the area. When you visit, enjoy this feast for the eyes and don’t be ashamed to take lots of pictures.

Lunch at Good Ground Tavern

Now, on to the main event and reason for our visit… Lunch! Good Ground Tavern is led by Chef Ülfet Ralph, who uses her Mediterranean roots to create a menu that pairs old-world flavors with quintessential Hamptons dishes. I ordered the Lobster Roll Crostini and was blown away by the flavors, particularly the pinch of tarragon. These incredible dishes are created using locally sourced ingredients that change with the seasons. I paired my meal with a Lavender Spritz cocktail and relished in the perfect Hampton’s day with friends.

After lunch, there was time for one last lap around the hotel before our trip back into the city to admire the outdoor space. I will be daydreaming about this pool set up for the foreseeable future. I can’t wait to stay here so I can take a dip and stay in one of their suites or cottages. Canoe Place Inn, there’s a very good chance you’ll be seeing me again soon.

Love from the Hamptons,
Katie

Date Night at the Don CeSar

August 22, 2022

Date Night at the Don Cesar
📍 St. Pete Beach, Florida

Date Night, Don Cesar, St. Pete, Beach, Tampa Bay, Boden

Dress || Similar Heels || Clutch || Earrings

Even in these dog days of summer, I still try to create date nights that feel extra special. On most Friday nights, David and I can be found Downtown, beginning the weekend with a cocktail and dining at a local favorite. We love these evenings together, but even in a city the size of St. Pete, it can feel monotonous. For that reason, we decided to head over to the beach to shake things up and spend some time at the iconic Don CeSar Hotel.

It’s lovingly referred to as ‘The Don’ and is deeply part of Tampa Bay history. The Pink Lady debuted in 1928, at the end of the Roaring Twenties, and hosted such names as Al Capone, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Today, it has a refreshed charm of the Jazz Age and is a favorite amongst visitors near and far. It’s also the perfect spot for a St. Pete date night!

Happy Hour at the Lobby Bar

You can feel the opulence as soon as you drive up to this Pink Palace on the sea. The Lobby Bar is the first thing to greet you with stunning gold features and an incredible cocktail list. On this particular evening, I ordered Pink Palace. It’s their take on a Kir Royale, except they swapped sparkling rosé for champagne. In true Jazz Age fashion, you can hear live music almost every evening. You’ll be tempted to get on your feet, grab a partner, and dance the night away.

Dinner for Two at Maritana

After a round of drinks, we made our way to Maritana. It recently completed a renovation and is such a feast for the eyes. Striking white columns give way to bright navy walls with seaside murals and influences. From there, the evening only got better as we enjoyed one of the best meals in the Tampa Bay Area. The menu is a sweeping list of coastal-inspired cuisine sourced from regional farms and fishermen. We started by sharing the Seared Foie, going our separate ways for my Seafood Linguini and David’s Lobster Gnudi. Excellent, excellent, excellent!

Ice Cream and a Perfect Sunset

After such an incredible dinner, I had room for a tiny sweet treat. Although the dessert list at Maritana looked Devine, I had my heart set on good, old-fashioned ice cream. Just like that, we made our way to Uncle Andy’s Market. They have a never-ending menu of ice cream flavors, milkshakes, pastries, and more! I took my chocolate chip cookie dough and snagged front-row views of a famous Gulf Coast sunset. It had been a while since we had seen one, and it felt like a perfect way to cap an evening for two.

Even four-plus years into marriage, I’m thankful to have these moments with David still. Cheers to many more years of bliss, finding memories, and making date nights.

Love from Florida,
Katie
