Palm Beach is one of those rare destinations that feels like a world of its own, sun-drenched, effortlessly stylish, and filled with charm at every turn. For a recent girls’ weekend, we wanted a hotel that captured the spirit of the area while offering a true sense of escape. The Colony Hotel, with its signature pink facade and storied past, was the obvious choice. Equal parts glamorous and whimsical, it was the perfect home base for three days of relaxation, catch-ups, and celebration. From the moment we stepped through the towering doorway, we were wrapped in the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down and savor.

A Storied Slice of Palm Beach History
Opened in 1947, The Colony has long been a cornerstone of the Palm Beach social scene. Its guest list reads like a who’s who of American culture. Think old Hollywood stars, presidents, royalty, and fashion icons. But despite its legendary status, the hotel has never taken itself too seriously. It’s always maintained a playful elegance that feels welcoming rather than exclusive. What makes it truly special is how it honors its legacy without clinging to the past. Over the years, it has evolved while staying rooted in what makes it iconic: classic service, coastal sophistication, and an unmistakable sense of place. It’s not just a hotel, it’s a symbol of Palm Beach style.

Interior Design and Our Room
Every inch of The Colony feels considered and beautifully layered. The interiors, led by designer Kemble Interiors, strike the perfect balance between maximalist and breezy. Custom de Gournay wallpaper, palm motifs, lacquered finishes, and vintage touches work together in a way that feels collected, not curated. It’s vibrant without being loud, tropical without feeling kitschy. Our room echoed this same mood: bright, fresh, and filled with thoughtful details that made the space feel like our own little retreat. I especially loved the plush linens, scalloped trim, and playful touches like beach prints and floral accents. Quiet mornings in our sitting room, coffee in hand, were a highlight of the trip.

Swifty’s, the Pool, and Pink Paradise Café
No girls’ weekend is complete without leisurely meals and plenty of lounging, and The Colony delivered on both. Swifty’s, the hotel’s signature poolside restaurant, quickly became our go-to. Whether we were splitting fries under a striped umbrella or enjoying cocktails after sunset, the setting was always just right. It’s lively and stylish but never fussy, the kind of place where locals mix seamlessly with guests. Mornings began with coffee and pastries from Pink Paradise Café, which sits just off the lobby and feels like a pastel dream. Afterward, we’d ease into the day by the pool, flipping through magazines, sipping iced lattes, and chatting in the sun. It all felt like a Slim Aarons photo come to life.

The Colony isn’t just a hotel, it’s a feeling. It captures everything that’s dreamy about Palm Beach while offering comfort, style, and a touch of nostalgia. For a quick getaway, girls’ trip, or a celebratory weekend, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay. It manages to feel both timeless and fresh, like the kind of place you’ll return to year after year. As we packed up our bags and said goodbye to the pink walls and flamingo accents, we were already planning our next visit. Some hotels leave you rested, but The Colony leaves you inspired.
