Recently, I’ve been trying to be more diligent in taking real life OOTD pictures while I’m out and about. Maybe we’re running errands or on a leisurely walk through the neighborhood, a quick snap of what I’m wearing is fun to share. The result is a surplus of pictures from around my little corner of Coastal Connecticut that I haven’t quite had a chance to share, so we’re trying a new kind of blog post today. Here’s what I wore recently, and a quick story in where I wore it, for some summer outfit inspiration.

Dinner in East Norwalk
Besides the little heat wave we had a few weeks ago, evenings in Connecticut can really cool down. Couple that with the ever-present breeze from the Long Island Sound and it can feel down right balmy. That’s exactly why, whenever we take a later walk around the neighborhood, I always bring a sweater to throw on. This navy rollneck sweater from J. Crew is a classic and pairs perfectly with a fun little gingham mini dress from Sézane. The result is an effortless outfit that I literally threw together for dinner in the neighborhood.

Running Errands in Rowayton
I absolutely love our weekend routines. It includes our grocery run for the week, along with breakfast and picking up some provisions in Rowayton. Breakfasts at Arden’s in particular always help us slow down with a sweet treat for Brennan and our morning coffee. If you have a child under three, this always feels like the place to be. On this particular morning, I wore the comfiest t-shirt dress from LOFT and my trusty espadrille flats from Soludos. I’ve had this pair for years and I still love them as much as the first time I wore them.

Breakfast at Ocean House
In mid-June, a few different engagements brought us to Rhode Island for the weekend. In truth, I don’t need a big excuse to visit the Ocean State. A promise of good weather and fresh seafood is enough. Before David attended a golf tournament and I spent the day at the Weekapaug Inn, we started our day with breakfast at the nearby Ocean House. This is definitely the grand dame of New England hotels, with its cheerful yellow exterior and sweeping views of the Atlantic. There’s really not much to say that hasn’t already been said… It’s gorgeous out here!

Exploring Watch Hill
Before this summer, I had never visited Watch Hill during peak season. Can you believe it? The last time was for an off-season weekend in February and nearly all of the town was boarded up. What a difference a few months can make! We stopped by fairly early and it was already brimming with visitors of all ages ready to spend the day on the water. We grabbed coffees to-go from Sift Bake Shop and explored our way through town. Not a bad way to start a morning!

Brunch at Arden’s in Rowayton
Nothing really special to describe about this particular outing. Like I said, I love our weekend routines. However, how perfect is this J. Crew cardigan sweater? The tiny embroidery detail adds just a dash of nautical flair. Some reviews say that there should be more and I think I tend to agree. Paired with faded red (aka Nantucket red) jeans from Target and I think this outfit is giving some 70s inspired style.

Summer outfits don’t have to be overthought, just a mix of easy fabrics, timeless silhouettes, and a few thoughtful details. Whether I’m headed to brunch, the beach, or just out for a casual stroll, I love leaning into pieces that feel effortless but still pulled together. Having a few go-to combinations on hand makes getting dressed a breeze, especially during those long, sunny days when plans tend to unfold as you go. I hope these looks inspire your own summer wardrobe, wherever the season takes you.
Love from New England,
Katie
