Recently, I’ve been trying to be more diligent in taking real life OOTD pictures while I’m out and about. Maybe we’re running errands or on a leisurely walk through the neighborhood, a quick snap of what I’m wearing is fun to share. The result is a surplus of pictures from around my little corner of Coastal Connecticut that I haven’t quite had a chance to share, so we’re trying a new kind of blog post today. Here’s what I wore recently, and a quick story in where I wore it, for so summer outfit inspiration.

Ice Cream Run

An afternoon ice cream run feels even sweeter when dressed for ease. I wore a black and white knit cardigan and matching shorts set from H&M—equal parts cozy and cute. The texture gave it a little structure, and the monochrome palette kept things looking pulled together. I added a straw hat for sun coverage and slipped on my trusty black Birkenstock sandals, which are quickly becoming a summer staple. It’s a low-lift outfit that’s perfect for walking through town, chasing a toddler, or ordering a cup.

Brunch in Rowayton

For brunch in Rowayton, I reached for a buttery yellow maxi dress from Albion Fit that’s soft, breathable, and makes just enough of a statement. The color felt like sunshine without being loud, and the silhouette was feminine without being fussy. I love how easy this dress is to dress up or down—I wore it with minimal accessories and flat sandals, and it still felt elevated enough for a nice morning out. Definitely one of those pieces that’s doing all the work for you.

Walk to the Beach in Rowayton

Later that same day, I changed into a light blue striped sundress from Tuckernuck for a quick walk to the beach. It’s one of those effortlessly summery dresses that works just as well with sneakers as it does with sandals… Perfect for when you’re not sure how far you’ll end up walking. I paired it with Adidas Sambas for a sportier vibe that still felt polished. It’s a go-to formula I rely on all season: breezy dress, comfortable shoes, and done.

East Norwalk Walk

This was one of those days when the weather was too nice to stay indoors. I threw on a red midi dress (long sold out, sadly) for a walk along the water in East Norwalk. The color felt classic and cheerful, and while I can’t link to the exact one anymore, I found a similar option from Staud that gives the same kind of look. Paired with neutral sandals and a small tote, it made for an easy outfit that still felt thoughtful.

At the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance

This event always calls for a mix of comfort and polish, and I kept things simple in a short-sleeve navy and white striped cardigan, high-rise J.Crew jeans, and a pair of green Sabah loafers for a subtle pop of color. The overall look leaned nautical without being too literal—perfect for strolling the show and admiring the vintage cars. I kept accessories minimal and let the stripes and green loafers do the work.

Summer outfits don’t have to be overthought, just a mix of easy fabrics, timeless silhouettes, and a few thoughtful details. Whether I’m headed to brunch, the beach, or just out for a casual stroll, I love leaning into pieces that feel effortless but still pulled together. Having a few go-to combinations on hand makes getting dressed a breeze, especially during those long, sunny days when plans tend to unfold as you go. I hope these looks inspire your own summer wardrobe, wherever the season takes you.

Love from Connecticut,
Katie
