As the new year begins, I’ve found myself craving reflection more than resolution. 2025 wasn’t about chasing the next thing, it was about settling into rhythms that felt right. Travel, yes, but also stillness. Celebration balanced with routine. Familiar places revisited, and new ones layered gently into our lives. Looking back month by month, what stands out most isn’t how busy the year was, but how intentionally it unfolded.

January: A Relaxing Month in Connecticut

A quiet January at home in Connecticut was the perfect way to start a refresh for 2025. We reset our healthier habits and spent the majority of our time either at home or exploring some of the great towns nearby. One particular highlight was visiting the sweet town of Milford for some fantastic New England clam chowder.

February: Winter Escape at the Weekapaug Inn

The milder winter weather was the perfect opportunity for an off-season weekend in New England. The Weekapaug Inn in Rhode Island was the perfect destination and instantly became a new lifelong favorite. Our time here allowed us to slow down, cozy up, and enjoy delicious food fireside.

March: Birthday Celebrations in NYC

For David’s birthday, we took full advantage of our close proximity to NYC to celebrate. Using the Park Lane Hotel as our home base, we visited the MoMA before heading to dinner in the West Village at one of our favorite spots. Nights out look very different with our little girl, especially when in the city, but I think we do a pretty good job of finding the balance.

April: Boca Grande for the Wedding of the Year

One of the main events of the year was a weekend at our dear Gasparilla Inn. Although we need no excuse to visit one of our favorite places, we were there to celebrate our dear friend’s wedding. It truly was the event of the year including a stunning venue, nights of dancing, and the prettiest bride!

May: Memorial Day in the Hamptons

No Memorial Day is complete without a weekend in the Hamptons with friends. We enjoyed every moment of the cooler weather and off-peak crowds. From window shopping in Amagansett to sunset dinners on the bay, it was the quintessential visit “out east.” A girl could definitely get used to the Hamptons lifestyle.

June: Girl’s Weekend in Palm Beach

June brought a long overdue girls trip to Palm Beach, specifically at the Colony Hotel. With one of my nearest and dearest friends, we relaxed poolside with cocktails and shopped til we dropped along Worth Avenue. This beachside town will always hold a special place in my heart and I love being able to share it with those I love the most.

July: Vacation in Barbados

Grab your passports because David and I took our first trip away from Brennan. Thanks to my parents for babysitting in Connecticut, we were able to spend an extra long weekend in Barbados for a couple’s trip. Cobblers Cove had been on my radar for years, but it was even prettier in person. With every shade of pink and sea green imaginable, it truly was a small slice of paradise.

August: New England Summers in Maine

After many years of daydreaming about a Maine getaway, I was finally able to cross this state off my bucket list. Following a quick lunch in Kennebunkport, we drove northward for a stay at the Chebeague Island Inn. Life was slower here, filled with blueberry punches and watching the sunsets from the wraparound porch. I’m all about creating family traditions and this destination certainly has a place for repeat visits.

September: Beginning of Fall in Rhode Island

Another month, another chance to explore more of New England. We treated ourselves to one more long weekend at the Weekapaug Inn, but still made room to visit Block Island. David went to URI, so this wasn’t his first visit to the small island 13 miles off the coast, but it was mine. The major highlight was sipping frozen mudslides on the National House patio. In 2026, I’m really hoping to spend more time here and get to know the island even better.

October: Fall Foliage in Manchester, Vermont

Although we’ve been to Vermont dozens of times to visit with David’s family, I had never been to Manchester. Consider me in love! It was such a charming little town and boasts fantastic shopping, historical sites, and the oldest restaurant in the Green Mountain State. Even though we normally spend our time in Stowe or Woodstock, visiting Manchester felt like visiting Vermont again for the first time.

November: Day Trips to NYC

With the busy summer season in our rear-view mirror, we took every chance to pop into the city for quick day trips. Our M.O. is to spend the day in the Upper East Side to explore our old neighborhood and daydream that we’ve never left. We have our old haunts that we frequently visit (Bemelmans, the Met, Dorrian’s, and more), but we always try to make space for new-to-us picks that have the neighborhood abuzz.

December: Holiday Season in Charleston

For the holidays, we made the long drive to and from Florida to spend time with my parents. It probably sounds like the worst idea that we made in 2025, but it gave us the opportunity to have a few side adventures along the way. Namely, we spent two days in Charleston. Can you believe it was my first time visiting here? While I’ll have a full post dedicated to our stay, all I’ll say now is that I absolutely get the hype!

2025 wasn’t about doing more, it was about doing what felt right. Returning to places we love, savoring the seasons, and allowing space for both celebration and quiet made this year feel deeply fulfilling. As I look ahead, I’m carrying forward that same intention: to romanticize the everyday, protect what matters, and move into the next year with clarity and care.

Love from Charleston,
Katie
