As I step into 2026, I’m thinking less about reinvention and more about refinement. This year isn’t about doing more, owning more, or rushing toward the next thing. It’s about choosing well, savoring often, and building a life that feels both intentional and beautiful. Inspired by French ease, old-world rituals, and the simple pleasure of doing things properly, these are the habits, rhythms, and mindsets I’m welcoming in, and the ones I’m gracefully leaving behind.

My Ins for 2026

In

  • Weekly bouquet of fresh flowers
There is something quietly transformative about fresh flowers on the table. They instantly elevate the everyday and remind me to slow down and notice beauty at home.
  • More croissants for breakfast
A small indulgence that makes mornings feel celebratory rather than rushed. Breakfast doesn’t need to be complicated to be special.
  • French apéritif at home
A glass of wine, a small snack, and unhurried conversation before dinner. This ritual is about presence, not perfection.
  • A great cup of morning coffee
Taking the time to make coffee properly, no multitasking, no rushing, feels like an act of self-respect.
  • Giggling until your sides hurt
Laughter as medicine, therapy, and connection. The kind that reminds you life is meant to be enjoyed.
  • Perfecting my boeuf bourguignon
Cooking as craft, not chore. Returning to a recipe again and again until it feels like second nature.
  • Taking a daily multi-vitamin
A small, steady commitment to feeling good long-term rather than chasing quick fixes.
  • Audrey Hepburn movie marathons
Timeless films, classic style, and storytelling that never feels dated. Comfort viewing at its finest.
  • Investing in heirloom silver
Choosing pieces meant to last generations instead of seasons. Objects with history, weight, and meaning.
My Outs for 2026

Out

  • Multi-tasking with breakfast
Meals deserve attention. Eating while scrolling or working takes away from the moment entirely.
  • Staying inside all day
Fresh air, even briefly, changes everything. A short walk or errand can reset the mood.
  • Hitting the snooze button
Starting the day intentionally feels far better than rushing through it half-awake.
  • Saying yes to everything
Protecting time and energy is essential. Not every invitation requires an answer of “yes.”
  • Overflowing inboxes
Fewer emails, clearer boundaries, and systems that support calm instead of chaos.
  • Eating out to avoid cooking
Cooking at home can be grounding and creative rather than something to avoid.
  • Saving things for special occasions
Life is the occasion. Use the good dishes, light the candle, wear the dress.
  • Shopping out of boredom
Thoughtful consumption over impulse. Choosing with intention feels far more satisfying.
  • Rushing through meals
Sitting down, slowing down, and enjoying what’s on the plate, every meal deserves that care.
White Tweed Jacket with Black Jeans

2026 feels like a year for living well rather than loudly. It’s about leaning into rituals that nourish, choosing quality over quantity, and finding beauty in the everyday moments that so often go unnoticed. By welcoming these “ins” and letting go of the “outs,” I’m creating space for a life that feels calmer, richer, and more aligned with the way I want to live, one thoughtful choice at a time.
