Each year, in that in-between kind of week, I like to allow myself to daydream about new trips for the upcoming year. Even if something isn’t officially added to the calendar until months later, the exercise honestly makes me feel grounded and gives me something to really look forward to. Afterward, hours of research, pricing, and discussions with David ensue before we book. Apart from celebrating my dearest friend’s wedding in Pensacola toward the middle of the year, 2026 feels so up in the air. My list of travel daydreams is a little shorter than years prior, here’s what I hope to have on the horizon.
New Orleans
New Orleans will always be one of my favorite cities. Even after multiple visits, it never feels finished. The food scene is constantly evolving, which means there’s always something new to try alongside the beloved standbys we return to again and again. Lately, I’ve been imagining what it would look like to experience the city again through Brennan’s eyes. Her love for music is beginning to blossom, and a Jazz Fest weekend, or even a family-friendly visit to Preservation Hall, feels like a natural next chapter.
Block Island
A late summer day trip to Block Island while staying at the Weekapaug Inn planted a seed I haven’t stopped thinking about. It felt relaxed and slightly nostalgic in the best way… with quiet beaches, simple meals, and that end-of-summer light. I’d love to return for a full long weekend, with time to explore beyond the harbor, linger over dinners, and truly live into the island’s slower pace.

Montreal
Although an international destination, this city feels like just a quick jaunt away, especially if we’re visiting David’s family in Vermont. I’ve only been here once, on an extremely snowy December weekend, so I’m looking forward to visiting during some warmer weather. The Francophile in me, of course, can’t wait to practice speaking French, but the food and music scene is absolutely incredible! Montreal Jazz Fest just so happens to land on my birthday and I can’t think of a better place to turn 35 this year!
France
Yes, this country will forever and always be on my travel list. There’s just so much to explore. We were here in December 2023 for a last-minute babymoon before welcoming Brennan, but I can’t wait to come back as a family of three. Obviously, I’ll be spending time in Paris, but my hope is to visit a new region and really immerse myself in the culture. Ever the wine drinker, I’ve been leaning towards either Burgundy, Bordeaux, or the Loire Valley. Truly, how does one choose?
Previous years have begun with a feeling of restlessness and a desire to cross new places off my list. Now, as I juggle life with a toddler, returning to old favorites feels so much more comforting and makes more logistical sense. I want to help instill a sense of adventure in Brennan, while still having an appreciation for a slower pace. In reality, who knows where 2026 will take my sweet little family and me. Cheers to enjoying every step of the way!
